SEE NOTE, 'Campbell Genealogy / Campbell of Wharf House' [GeneWeb.31] - Frederick Campbell was NOT adopted by John Campbell of Wharf House as his heir, but was rather apprenticed by his uncle for a short time with a view to taking over the business. This outcome of course never took place as Fred preferred the Australian outback to life 'chained to a desk' in the City, even near his beloved Sydney Harbour.
