At the tender age of 15 I began playing for St. Anthony's intercol side which in Trinidad is the creme de la creme of secondary school football. As I developed in my Position as goalkeeper I was beginning to be compared to some of the great keepers of the game. My name was called in the same sentence as Peter Shilton, Walter Zenga and other goal keepers. Though flattered by these comparisons, I never lost focus of my goal, which was and still is, to be the best goalkeeper I could possibly be, and so I continued to push my self toward excellence.
In 1996 my hard work, discipline and committment paid off when I was given the chance to play for the national soccer team on a tour of Europe. After the European tour I was offered a contract with a semi-professional team in Trinidad...The offer was tempting, and though playing professional is every footballer's dream, I decided to shelve that plan in order to pursue a degree in Accounting at Morehouse College, Atlanta Ga.
At present I am a Junior or third year student at Morehouse, with hopes of graduating in May 2002. I still enjoy football as I am an important member of the College's soccer team and I dream of taking the team to championship level before I leave.
Now that I have basically given you a brief history of myself I invite you to explore the web site and see what Mark-Anthony Coombs has to offer.
