History

Virgin Islands were seen and named by Columbus in 1493 and named after the Feast of the Holy Virgin. Occupied by Spain in 1555. All natives (Arawaks) killed by 1596. Annexed by Britain in 1672. They are still a colony as they are too small to be viable on their own. If a new West Indian Federation were to emerge these islands could become a territory within it.
