An important sign of a seriously malfunctioning society is numbers of abandoned children living homelessly in the streets, living by crime. Bogota, Mexico, Rio de Janeiro, Nairobi and many others are affected. They are at risk from Death Squads, another symptom of a malfunctioning society. St.Petersburg (Russia) also shows the problem. Family planning would be one answer (theVatican) disagrees. Investments in jobs would be another, as children are abandoned because their parents cannot support them on existing wages or earnings, especially during the current world inequality. The main reason is lack of social solidarity, allowing huge differences between rich and poor.

The number in such "advanced" countries as Britain and the United States is not, however, zero.
