Managing the Removable Storage Service

You can see a list of the libraries set options for removable Storage by opening the Computer Management window (also known as the Microsoft Management Console). Click Start, right-click My Computer, and choose Manage from the menu that appears. When you see the Computer Management window, open the Storage item, and then the Removable Storage item that it contains. You see a window that looks like the one in Figure 9-13.

You can set the Removable Storage options by clicking Removable Storage in the left pane and clicking the Properties button on the toolbar (or right-click Removable Storage and choose Properties from the menu that appears). On the General tab of the Removable Storage Properties dialog box, you can set these two check boxes:

• Display Operator Request And Progress Dialogs Specifies whether to display dialog boxes to let you know what's happening--we keep this selected.
• Use Status Area Icon For Pending Requests Specifies whether to display an icon in the notification area of the Windows taskbar when requests are pending.

Click the Security tab to see a list of the user accounts and groups that are defined on your system, and to change their permissions. You can also change the permissions for a specific media library by right-clicking it, choosing Properties, and clicking the Security tab.
