Jimmy Chamberlin
Jimmy Chamberlin was born on June 10, 1964 in
the town of Joliet, Illinois, south of Chicago. He comes from a
family with a musical background (his father was a jazz
clarinetist and his older brother Paul is also a drummer),
Jimmy is influenced by artists such as Benny
Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Gene Krupa, Buddy
Rich and Ian Paice
Jimmy played in many bands in Illinois and
around the country. While taking a break between bands, he
worked as a carpenter in Joliet. It was during this time that he
was introduced to Billy Corgan by a mutual friend. Jimmy joined
Billy's band, the Smashing Pumpkins.
The Smashing Pumpkins played their last
concert together in Chicago in December, 2000.
After taking a year off from music, with the
exception of a few summer dates with Billy, Jimmy is now the
drummer for Billy Corgan's new band, Zwan.
