The articles section: although the articles seem to be relatively well-written, all of the information was written from within the site. There are no real articles here and no cited information to spare. A bit strange that there are only four articles in the section and the site has been around since 1998!
"The real purpose behind this site now is kind of an anti-advocacy site. I find that there are a number of Apple advocacy sites out there that are heavy on the hype and light on the facts. This is just my little poke back at them." He says that the Apple advocacy sites are heavy on hype and light on facts. Well if this is a poke back at them, then the he admits that his site is the same way. Ihateapple.com takes every opportunity to take a swing at Apple. An intelligent, unbiased anti-Apple site is a good idea, but since the vast majority of visitors to this site and people that dont like Apple are retards, it just doesn't work.
Probably the best section on the site, the Audio/Video section shows some humorous clips where macs were involved, but really does nothing to put down Macintosh or Apple at all (The Epinions review was completely full of crap but was kind of funny).
There are only two comparisons (gee, i wonder why). Both of them are of computers that are not even competators and it looks like the writer tried to be unbiased in his review, but since they are two completely different systems neither of the reviews worked out very well. This section is a threat because it is very easy to believe these reviews. They look very realistic.
In the idiot mail section only the unintelligable mail is answered.
An example of a letter from a retard: "I don't understand why you must rag on apple. You do know that 85% of all web pages are hosted by apple (1999), right? I highly doubt that number has dropped much since then."
And the response: "Hahahahahaha. Now this one is just funny. According to Netcraft currently the majority of the Internet (63%) is hosted with Apache on some kind of UNIX or Linux. The next largest segment (26%) is owned by Microsoft IIS. Now I realise that OS-X is UNIX based, and can therefore run Apache, but seeing as this troll quoted the figure being from 1999, before OS-X, I'm going to call BS."
An example of an intelligent letter:"It is interesting that a site is dedicated to hating the Mac by people who probably use a computer that wouldn't exist except for the fact that someone ripped off Apple and made a shoddy reproduction. Apple introduced the first PC into consumers hands. And for years PC devotees laughed at the Mac's graphical interface and mouse only to abandon their pathetic command-line user interface to jump on the Apple Macintosh bandwagon." Talk about self-hate. Check your "c drive" for a clue!"
And the response to this one: Wait, there is no response to any letters that actually present an argument. Not a surprise at all.
In the forums very little of the threads have anything to do with computers and the few that do are mindless bashing. No one can post any pro-mac content because it is removed a short while later (believe me, I've tried). "If you make baseless, wild claims you are going to get laughed at, ignored or banned. Debating the various merits of the BSD microkernel versus the Windows NT kernel or the Yankees versus the Red Sox is good. Unilaterally declaring the G4 to be faster than all 'PeeCees' is not, and is likely to end up in a ban." This means that anything the vast majority of the readers and webmaster doesn't like is removed. The forum is badly organized and consists of two sections, one entitled General Forums (where people post off-topic nonsense) and the other entitled MacInTrash (where people post off-topic nonsense). In fact, there is nothing but off-topic nonsense in these forums. If you ever post anything in these forums (a waist of time) don't ever reveal your email address or you will be mercilessly spammed.
The debunked section is the equivelant to Flaming, except text is taken from the sites and torn apart line-by-line, which really proves nothing because anything can be taken out of context. There are only three sites here and all of their reviews were written in 2000, so any of the information taken could have been changed or corrected long ago (one of the sites isn't even around anymore).
The gallery and humor sections, although they don't have much content, I found amusing.
The parody section is basically the same as the previous two sections, which again demonstrates the horrible organization at ihateapple.com. Consists of pictures of Macs with rude comments next to them. Kind of funny sometimes, but mostly just in poor taste.
In the contact section there is surprisingly a staff listing of four people. I find it odd that there is so little content here with a staff that large. The most obvious explanation is that they ran out of content long ago.
Although it is relatively easy to navigate this site, sections of it seem to have been forgotten amd left to rot. As I've been told several times by visitors, apparently people only come here to post nonsense in the forums. The web design is comprised of nothing but a dirty-blue border outside a white box (that's how we know the designer used Windows).
Ihateapple.com seems to be one of the only anti-Mac websites that are still being updated (although there's although theres barely any indication of this). The content, or lack thereof, is mostly biased, with the slight exception of the comparisons section, which compared unequal hardware to begin with. Overall, ihateapple.com is not a very big threat to educated, strong-minded people. The webmaster says not to take anything here seriously because it's just a website, which is the smartest statement I read the entire time I did my research. If this is true, then I urge the webmaster to take down the out of date/untrue data.
If you're looking for a laugh, this is a good place to be, but if you're looking for hard data, go somewhere else.
