“Manderlin” Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

1 box              Devil’s Food cake mix

1-1/2 cups     cream cheese icing

2 8 oz. cans  mandarin orange slices

1/3 cup          orange juice

1 tsp               vanilla extract

1 tsp               cinnamon powder

4 tsp               chocolate syrup

 

 

Instructions:

1.                  Prepare cake mix in a 9x13” pan per instructions supplied with mix.  However, replace ½ cup of however much water you were supposed to use with the orange juice.

2.                  Mix the vanilla extract and the cinnamon powder into the cake mix.  Bake the cake per instructions supplied with mix.

3.                  For the icing, drain 1 can of mandarin orange syrup into your icing.  Mix well and chill for 30 minutes.

4.                  After letting the cake cool, spread the icing evenly over the cake.   Drizzle the chocolate syrup over the icing.

5.                  Spread the mandarin oranges evenly on top of the icing.

 

***You can also sprinkle cinnamon over everything after Step #5.

 

***For good “leftovers cake” to save for later, perforate the cake immediately after removing from the oven.  Spread icing over the cake immediately, and the icing will melt into the cake.  Layer your orange slices, and spread the remaining icing over them.  Chill for 45 minutes, and sprinkle cinnamon and drizzle chocolate over the entire cake.
