STOP PRESS ! A source at Aachen has confirmed that Minichamps WILL produce the McLaren two seater however it will NOT be on sale to the general public !  It appears that King Juan Carlos of Spain has commissioned the models which will be handed to guests at his birthday bash the day prior to this years Spanish Grand Prix.

If you can remember His Royal Highness was taken for a spin in the McLaren prior to the 2000 race by his personal friend and former F1 driver Martin Brundle.  A total of 1,402 models will be produced complete with an engraved 9ct gold baseplate however it is not clear if the models will be complete with driver and passenger figures or if the WEST decals will be used.

Although the initial casting may look similar to the above picture due to the secrecy surrounding the project I am obviously unable to post a photograph of the packaging or the inscription on the engraved baseplate.
