The will was probated October 29, 1765. The only son of Nicholas Van Degrift and Barentje was baptized in the Dutch Reformed Church January 1, 1691, came to Bucks County as a small child, and there he raised his family. The given name of Jacob's wife is shrouded in confusion. According to the Abington Presbyterian Church records she was Choves Tonley, some records gave her as "Charity." In the Vandegrift Graveyard the gravestone reads "Jane, wife of Jacob 1697 -died April 15, 1766." In the records of the Newtown Presbyterian Church is the death of Jacob and Catharine his wife, who died 31st December 1772. Joseph Comly in his notes on Byberry, state the same information. Could it be that Jacob married a second time?
His will (File #1307, Bucks County) is dated October 4, 1770 and was probated May 11, 1771. In it he names children, but makes no mention of his wife. Two of his sons were named exectuors and it was witnessed by William Baker, James How and Anne Feaster.

He was also known as Cornelius Corsen. Cornelius married three times, first to Ann Van Horn, and this marriage was performed by the Reb. Richard Treat and recorded in the Abington Presbyterian Church. Just when she died, we have no record for he married a second time, Margaritta Van Ende, whose maiden name was Nevins. however after the marriage, he took out letters of administration on that of Ann, and in 1762, Cornelius married, a third time, Charity -----?
