She has reference number 59. All my life I had heard good things about Grama Colbaugh. Because my Grandmother had been so very close to Grama Colbaugh I had it in the back of my mind that she was my grandmother's mother, however, once I began searching for
my family I realized that my Grama Colbaugh who was loved dearly, was my
Grandmother's great grandmother. My search for Grama Colbaugh took me a long
way, but when I finally discovered where her grave was and went and stood right
next to where she was laid to rest, all I could do was sit and cry; she was a
most loving, caring grama who watched over and cared for her children and
grandchildren and great grandchildren, even in death for beside her was a
grandson and a great granddaughter whose place of burial she had provided.
When my Grama was small the only grandmother she knew was her father's
grandmother, Grama Colbaugh. My Grama was the third of seven daughters, and
when she was small Grama Colbaugh was the one who took her on outings and
provided dolls and loving care. Memories of visits to Grama Colbaugh's home on
Perrysville Avenue were the talk of one generation after the other. That is
how I came by the wonderful feeling of love for my Grama Colbaugh; she died
many years before I was born but she is and always be very dear to me.
Ruth Mary Leiby Middleton
