Research Note: He was the husband of Martha Elizabeth Powell and they were the parents of Mary Elizabeth "Molly" Armstrong who married Corum Taswell McNabb. The death certificate information reads that he was a son of J. M. Armstrong and Miss Surry, both born VA. Informant was J. W. Armstrong of Fairview, MO. He was widowed and a retired merchant. Wheaton Journal Friday, April 30, 1920. He married Martha E. Powell in 1867. To this union was born six children, two boys and four girls, J. W. Armstrong of Fairview, Mo., J. E. Armstrong of Santa Ana, Cal., Mrs. Lemaster of Wheaton, Mo., Mrs. McNabb of Exeter, Mo., Mrs. Lucy Leith of Hendon, Va., and Mrs. Alice Seizer of Santa Ana, Cal.

Given the 1900 U. S. Census info, I doubt she is Mason and Mary's child. It indicates that both her parents were born in Ohio. Mason was born in Virginia and Mary Crook was born in Kentucky.
