Junoon's Parvaaz breaking sales records

(JPR) Karachi,4 October: Music group Junoon's latest volume entitled Parvaaz, released in Pakistan on Saturday, 2nd October, is already breaking sales records in Pakistani music. According to distributors, Parvaaz' compact disc, or CD, sold over 40,000 copies in CD format in the first day alone, making it a record for sales of a Pakistani CD. According to retailers in Karachi, no pirated version of the album was seen as yet, whether in CD or cassette form. Cassette sales reached the 100,000 mark by Sunday afternoon, or less than 24 hours after the release, making Parvaaz a Platinum seller by Pakistani music industry standards in the first day alone, and breaking all previous records for a pop music album.

Dr. Rafat Siddiqui, CEO of LIPS Music, the official licensee of Parvaaz for Pakistan, said "We had to scramble to get enough copies out to outlying areas. The truck that was to supply Parvaaz to Rawalpindi/Islamabad broke down on the way, so we had to airlift cassettes & CD's there. We knew that Parvaaz would be a record-breaker, but we are pleasantly surprised at the public's initial response. The album will reach out to a much wider audience including enthusiasts of Bulleh Shah's poetry, to which the album is dedicated."
