This short story was published at the back of the paperback edition of Crown Duel. It features Mel, Danric, Savona, and Nee, set in the fall after Mel and Danric are married. Mel's life is changing once again--new acccomplishments, new excitement, but new worries, too.

The short story "Beauty" is published in Firebirds: An Anthology of Original Fantasy and Science Fiction. It is narrated by Elestra, Mel's first daughter and middle child. The story also concerns everyone's favorite suave villian, Flauvic.
