Synopsis:
Two mismatched characters go on a wild road trip in the dusty backwaters of Uttar Pradesh in this Bonnie and Clyde style Bollywood romance. Love blossoms as the couple leave a string of robberies and a frustrated policeman in their wake. (taken from uci.co.uk)
SPOILER:
Rakesh (Abhishek Bachchan) and Vimmi (Rani Mukherjee) have their hopes dashed when they both run off to pursue their dreams. They meet up and soon form the con team of Bunty and Babli and start taking from everyone left and right. They soon get a cop on their trail, Dashrath Singh (Amitabh Bachchan).
Rakesh and Vimmi fall in love and get married. When Vimmi is pregnant, they run a con to steal gold from an airport that is under Dashrath’s watch. Dashrath, having met the couple earlier at a bar, recognizes them in the getaway car. When Vimmi has their son, she appeals to Rakesh to give up the fugitive life so their son won’t have his parents in jail. They decide to go clean and start a new life.
Dashrath, however, has tracked them down and arrests them. He takes them to a freight train where they are headed to jail. Along the way, Dashrath feels pity for them and believes them that they were going to start a new life. He sets them free wondering if they really were going straight or if he was a victim of their greatest con.
Flash forward three years and we see they have indeed gone straight and are living with Rakesh’s family. Dashrath shows up to tell them that he needs them to stop a scam that’s going to take place. Raskesh is ecstatic to help, saying he is sick of a normal life. Vimmi agrees, saying she’ll die if she has to pickle any more mangos. Bunty and Babli are born again, but this time they are helping the good guys. The movie ends with the line “And they conned happily ever after…”
