True Friend

Untitled

Blank

Words can't describe
The way I am feeling

Neither happy nor sad
Neither tired nor awake

If anything matters
I don't realize it

If anything hurts
I can't feel it

If anything loves
I'm not touched

I simply...am....
Here all alone

The Drought

I am falling into drought and decay,
And have forgotten the sweet smell of new life.
Every day my skin grows drier,
Every day I slowly petrify.

My senses have dulled,
And I sleepwalk in a dream
With a barren landscape.

My body needs a thunderstorm.
Rain to wash my dusty eyes,
Lightning to make my heart beat again,
Thunder to clear my muffled ears.

I have thrown away my umbrella,
And I walk in the unprotected street
To wait for one sweet drop of hope.

Rediscovery

In your arms I feel a soft
Warmth my cold body has forgotten.
The language you speak caress my ears
With words lost in distant memory.

You have lovingly repaired
My broken chains of trust
And wound them tightly around our hearts.

You have pulled me out of the rain
Of my insecurities and doubts
Where I can finally dry off
After all these years.

The bruised heart I offer seems a small
Gift in return for what you have given me.
But I know in time, with your love and nurturing
It will grow strong and steadfast --

-- secure in the knowledge it has finally come home.

The Sending

Her feet dance on the water
Caressing the waves lightly as she moves
Swaying hips keep time with the pulsing movement

All is forgotten and left to dreams
As the colors swirl and melt in her hands
Spreading her arms wide she embraces the power

Anxious souls arise to the clouds
Giving one last look at life once known
And finally know the sweet release

True Friend

In your eyes I see a reflection of myself,
Of how I wish I was, of how I know I'm not,

But in your actions you show me how I can be,
And how I can achieve it.

In your ear I speak words of regret,
Words of complaint and words of anger,

And in your heart you take my hurt,
And store it safely away from me.

In your head you know I've sometimes let you down,
That disppointment has been caused by my foolish actions,

But in your heart lies such forgiveness and kindness,
That I thank God every day He has given me a true friend like you.

Untitled

Thick wet snow blankets the ground
Muffling noises that threaten to invade.
Warmth from the crackling fire turns a
Misty face towards mine and breathes on my skin.
Your hand reaches for mine in the flickering light
And I melt into the endless peace of your arms.
