Darick and I got together in April of 2002 and boy has it been a roller coaster ride. Through lots of ups and downs, twists and turns of things beyond our control, we had managed to stay on top until the Lord and Lady carried him Home on Dec. 22nd 2003.
Darick and I were just married on September 13th, 2003 in the Sierra's by Yosemite. It was a 5 day event for Darick and myself and our guests enjoyed three days of fun, partying, and feast. We had the most beautiful and perfect wedding day that one can only dream of. How blessed we were to have my fathers financial backing as well as the backing and blessings of our true friends and families [surrogate and otherwise]. All who surrounded us as we made our vows to one another on that eventful, perfect day.
I live in California with my 4 boys, in a very small community of only 300 folks. The nearest town is Taft, and it is a teeny, tiny place. Being in a small town has it's advantages, and also it's disadvantages, but we loved to be away from any big cities and larger towns. Our dream was to move to the Sierra's by Yosemite and maybe someday I still might be able to make that happen. Until then, I will make the best of what I have going here which is a lot to be thankful for; and a lot to finish with the dreams that Darick and I had shared.
The boys and I have many animals and our 3 acres has filled fast! We have an horse; Doc, 4 dogs; Kodiak, Princess, 32, and UB.
We also have a wolf who came from Oregon. She is a black Tundra/Timber/British Columbian wolf and is just awesome! Her name is Nahimanna and we call her Nahi. Her name means "Mystic" in North Dakotan Native Indian.
We have 2 rats; Lilly and Billy and seven parakeets. Oh yes, we have two cats as well; Phoenix and Onyx. Phoenix was a gift to me from Darick last Samhain [Halloween]. She is spoiled rotten and a joy to have around. Darick saved her from the pound and she couldn't be more purrfect. Onyx came us to one of my friends moved and could not take her. She is solid black with gold eyes and she fits in with our family very well.
We also have about 30 or so chickens and raise exotic chickens for show. Some of the breeds are Phoenix, Cochin Banties, Mille Fleurs, Black Tailed White Japenese, New Hampshire Reds, and in the other pen we have backyard mixes.
Darick and I were both foster parents who work for Aspira Foster Care. I have been a foster parent close to 10 years now and Darick had been one close to two years. On occasion I am a writer for the Aspira newsletter as well.
