Engaged on July 10th, 2002, I wasn't exactly sure Darick meant it. Leave it to me to be confused about this! I think the whole conversation went something like; "Kat, I kinda like ya, and I am not doing anything for the rest of my life, ya wanna?" I looked at Darick, and said, "Do I wanna what?" I really had no clue what he was talking about! After a few seconds, it all came to me and I said, "Yes!"
Not as romantic as a gal would dream of having, but true to Darick form, he didn't miss a beat, and it will never be forgotten!
We both have chosen to say our vows in the Sierra's at San Jose Family Camp. Please visit our personal site with pictures and information about it, by going here; "San Jose Family Camp"
Family Camp is located about 20 minutes below the west gate of Yosemite on Hwy. 120.
This particular part of Calif. is not only known for it's breathtaking beauty, but for it's tranquil settings which will be the perfect background for wedding photographs and a special event to be remembered by all.
For more information on "San Jose Family Camp" and everything it has to offer, please visit their official new website: Friends Of San Jose Family Camp.
For a link to the San Jose Family Camp questions and answers page, please go here: San Jose Family Camp Questions Page.
Camp is located 1/2 hour below Yosemite on Hwy. 120. It usually takes us about 4 1/2 to 5 hours to drive to camp from Taft, depending on traffic and road work.
As to be expected, we are excited about our wedding date, Sept. 13th, 2003, and have already picked out our wedding invitations. They are being mailed out June 23, 2003 and will include a map and a wedding itinerary.
Our rings, which are a matching set of Black Hills Gold with diamonds running through them, are beautiful! I have never seen anything like these and we are both happy we found and picked out something unique to both our tastes.
We also chose our colors as well; silver and teal. Not that that would be a surprise, everyone who knows Kat, knows that the color 'silver' holds a special meaning.
We are hoping that our day will be filled with joy and happiness while ALL our friends and family join us on this special day.
UPDATES:
June 2003
The tents have cots in them and all you need to bring is the regular bedding; like sleeping bags, blankets, air mattresses to set on the cot if you would like. We always bring extra blankets at that time of you and never regret it.
Proper clothing for warm to mild temps during the day and cool nights. Bring a jacket, sweatshirt, shorts, t-shirts, and bathing suit if you care to take a dip. Just basically bring clothes for cold to warm weather.
All meals will be provided from Friday night dinner to Sunday morning champagne brunch. The food is excellent up there and the staff are "Oh...so good!". Extra snacks, soda's, and alcohol are up to you. Please use provide and use proper containers for these items due to wild animals that do inhabit camp on occasion.
Please be aware there are mosquito's, bears, raccoons and squirrels that inhabit this wild area, and are known to play in camp on occasion. Sometimes we even get a few cows wandering through in the meadow as well. Bring your mosquito repellent just in case there are a few stragglers left in camp at this time of year.
There are NO PETS allowed in camp so please make accommodations for such.
Ok! Now onto to some fun stuff!
As most of you know by now, we have decided on a Medieval Theme for our wedding and we are also incorporating "Middle Earth" and "Lord Of The Rings" into it. We do understand that some of our guests will not understand this or what we are doing so I will try and explain a little.
Due to the fact that Darick and I are not 'christian based' nor do we follow any 'one' religion, this is what we have chosen for our special day. I, myself, follow a Pagan path and practice my Native American beliefs as well as some Wicca.
We will not be wearing traditional wedding attire. I know what you are possibly thinking right now! Get over the shock! *grin* Most of you already know that we just aren't a very 'normal couple' to begin with! *grin*
We have decided on wearing garb that will be based around "Middle Earth". "WHAT?!" you ask?! Ok, better put; both of us WILL BE wearing VERY Medieval, custom made wedding attire for our 'going back in time' weekend.
Our 6 year old son, who is the ring bearer, will be dressed as Frodo, our three boys will accompany myself over the bridge will be dressed Medieval, my Matron of Honor, Daricks Best man, and my niece who is the flower girl will also be wearing Lord Of The Ring garb.
We are also HIGHLY encouraging all our guests who would like to wear "Medieval", "Middle Earth", "Lord Of The Rings", or "Knights Of The Round Table" garb to PLEASE feel free to do so. We are encouraging it! Anyone in Medieval garb will go with the theme of the festivities and with an estimated 100 guests, this could turn out to be fun! We have also incorporated Dragons, Faeries, and a few other fun things into this day.
Part of the rituals of a traditional 'long ago' Medieval wedding contained 'performing' for the Bride and Groom right after they were married. We are asking those of you who would like to recite a poem, sing, do a skit, make a toast, or 'perform something' for us; to also be prepared to make your performance right after the vows are done. We are highly encouraging our guests to participate with us to make our dream day come true. So come on, get your thinking caps on, and come up with ANYTHING fun!

I have some pictures of camp itself that are here CAMP PICTURES if you are interested in what Family Camp is like. This will give you an idea of where in camp we are getting married, what the dining hall, tents and bathrooms look like, and what the patio looks like.
For those of you with motor homes, we have permission to let you in camp now! There are NO DUMPING
rules in effect at the camp itself. Other hook-ups will be available for your convenience. Please call Tom Borup, the Camp Manager at LEAST 1 month ahead of time so they may have everything set up for you and ready to go. Ask him to make sure you get directions into camp with your motor home, I am not sure which access road he wants used once you turn onto camp's main road, Cherry Creek Road. Tom Borup can be reached at; 209-962-7277For you folks who are not 'camp type' people, and would prefer a motel other then the tent cabins, we have info for you also! Please reserve early as well at this motel! "The Yosemite Riverside Inn" is located right before the entrance of "San Jose Family Camp". You can find more info about this motel at: www.yosemiteriversideinn.com/ or call to reserve at; 1-800-626-7408

June 30, 2003

If you are a "Motel Stayer", please start making reservations at the Yosemite Inn motel ASAP so you will have a room booked and no worries. July 2, 2003
We received our 'cards' of the places we registered with a little to late to add them in the invitations we mailed out. We thought we would just list them here on our page for those of you who have called or emailed to ask where we were registered at.
We have registered with; Target, Crate & Barrel and Bed, Bath, & Beyond.
The name the accounts are under is Kathleen Munday, and the date is Sept. 13, 2003 in Groveland Ca. All of these can be found online.
There are also a few sites that are online that we adore, but unfortunately they do not offer any bridal registries at this time. They are in the process of adding them to their sites, but it will be too late for us to use them.
We would prefer anything offered at these sites. Our whole theme is dragons, Medieval, and Lord of The Rings. Our cake top is dragons as well as our champagne flutes. Our home is decorated with dragons, medieval, faeries, and things of the Middle Earth.
The sites are: The Dancing Dragon, Legends Of Fantasy and The Pyramid Collection.
If you would prefer to send a contribution to a charity instead of a buying a gift, please make a check payable to either: St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital or The American Cancer Society. These will be given to either of the organizations you choose after the wedding.
July 28, 2003
We have hired our band! They are "Rockslide" from Groveland CA. and they play for the "Iron Door Saloon" in Groveland on occasion. We are happy to have them on board with us for our wedding, and we know you will enjoy them too! To visit their site and see their playlist, please click HERE
Much admired throughout Greeley Hill, Coulterville and all of the Southern Mines area, these folks never quit and will play everything from Fleetwood Mac to Stevie Ray Vaughn. They guarantee to “Rock the House’, so be sure YOU join us and them!
