SFM - Is Hecate Entroned is a "Black Metal" band?
SFM - How do You define the term "Black Metal"?
SFM - What do You think of the "Black Metal" scene nowadays? In all honesty i dont follow the scene as much as i used to, so i'm probably not the best to comment. I tend to ingore all the drival and concentrate on the good bands. Akercocke are a damn fine band, as are Thus Defiled. SFM - Why have You chosen the band name "Hecate Entroned". I think you'd have to ask the ex vocalist that as i was'nt around then, sorry! SFM - What is Your favourite Hecate Entroned album/song? Pre 'Kings of Chaos' my favourite album was 'The Slaugher of Innocence' whcih was also my favourite song and it's still a pleasure to play live. Obviously i'm going to say our forthcoming MCD 'Miasma' is my favourite release ever and favourite song is 'New Day Emerges' from 'Miasma'.
SFM - How do You compare Hecate Entroned several years ago to the present one? I can only answer this one from a musical point of view as i'm the newest member to the band (even though i joined in1998). We have gone from a band that was purely black metal to a band that has more influences, a more honest band i dare say. Honesty is the most important thing to me... SFM - And how did you discover metal and the underground personally? What your
parents and familly tell about your "hobbies"... Is it hobby or pure way of your life? How does it looking, please share with
me.... I discovered metal in about 1988, Iron Maiden to be precise! From there i heard bands like Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, which quickly progressed to stuff like Nuclear Assault, S.O.D, Dark Angel and Testament. In 1991 i found death metal, bands like Deicide, Morbid Angel, Carcass...then in early 1992 i got into black metal, even though i was already listening to a few bands such as Beherit and Mayhem. It's snowballed from there i guess. I got into the underground scene in 1991 through tape trading, which i did up until 1996. Between that time i wrote for a few fanzines and got to interview the likes of Deicide, Pestilence, Malevolent Creation and Brutal Truth. Also underground bands like Decomposed, Gomorrah, Incarcerated and the them embryo Cradle of Filth. In 1996 came by 'big break' when i was asked to manage a band called Necropsy. I had no idea how to do such a job, but i gave it a go. From there i learned how to set up gigs and promote a band. I found it hard to work with them and left that position to concentrate fully on my own band, Ewoc. But things went pear shaped there too, i also found it hard to work with them guys and despite the fact i formed the band i felt i had to leave. I think that the fact that both Necropsy and Ewoc split up not long after i left says something. Then in 1998 i was asked to join Hecate Enthroned, which really was my big break. And i've never looked back since... SFM - What bands have been an influence for You? For me personally i've been inspired (rather than influenced) by Adam and the Ants, Akercocke, Deicide and Satyricon. Lyrically, although i'm not claiming to be highy original i'm not really influenced by anyone anymore. I used to be slighty influenced by bands like Immolation and Deicide, but now i'm more into trying my own thing. Yes, i used to sing in a band called Ewoc, whcih was a death metal band in the beginning but changed to an amalgamation of differant styles as time went on. We did get round to recording a demo, but i left the band and it never got released. SFM - Your best bands... Christ, there are so many...Immolation, The Enchanted, Usurper, Malevolent Creation, Morbid Angel, At the Gates, Iron Maiden, Satyricon, Macabre, Akercocke, Primordial, Metallica, Crcass, Abruptum, Death, Dark Throne, i could literally fill a page... SFM - How important is the image of Hecate Entroned? Will You use face-paint? Image is not vitally important, though a little can get you noticed. We use it it moderation, for example, only myself wears face paint. I think the music should be the most important thing. SFM - Will You tell us some Your touring plans for this year? I wish i could but at present we have no set plans. We may be doing a Uk tour in early August, but that is still in its embryo stage. SFM - Tell us who is an author of Your lyrics and
what does they refer to? I do all the lyrics and they deal with a lot of differant subjects, 'Perjurer' is about all the lies and deciet in christianity, where as 'New Day Emerges' is like a story about the destruction of christianity. So it differs. They are usually based around the destruction of christianity or are to do with the self, but all are anti christian. SFM - Are You inspirated by Satanism, Mythology, Occultism, Legends.... No. I'm inspired by what i feel. SFM - What kind of movies, books do You like tio watch, read. Is there any genre that`s Your favourite? Sure, i like to watch films and occasionally read a book. Film wise i dont really have a favourite genre, i like everything from the Evil Dead series to the Monty Python films. I like to read books on serial killers, i find them truly fascinating. SFM - Best memories? Concerning the band? Going on tour, that always brings back good memories. Also having the finished CD in your hand is a good feeling, so see something you have put so much effort into is very rewarding. SFM - Worst experiences? Concerning the band? Going on tour, that always brings back bad memories. Also the recording of a CD can be a very stressful time, though its all more than worth it in the end. SFM - What do You want get to know after death? When i die i believe that i am nothing more than food for worms. I dont envision any kind of afterlife SFM - What do You think about Black Metal scene (in Poland, Europe)? I'm very happy to see Behemoth making a go of it. We toured with them and they were very nice genuine guys, we had some good times with them. I know about the large Nazi element Poland has (or had (?), like i say, i dont follow whats going on much anymore) and Europe is pretty much the same i guess, some good some bad. SFM - Tell us a few sentences about future of Hecate Entroned? As i've metioned, we have a new MCD coming out entitled 'Miasma'. We will continue to write new material and work together as a band. And hopefully get a some tours. SFM - Thanx!!! The last word belong to You... Six hundred and sixty six hails for the interview, your support is much appreciated. !!!SITE UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!
