March has been a quiet month. Still getting a few quilt squares through the post, but I think I’ve got all that I’m going to get from everyone on the list. Only missing about 5 or 6, out of almost 90, which isn’t bad.

Have started a course at work so that I will be able to do the 1st day checks of newborn babies. It’s a new role that midwives are beginning to undertake. We already do basic checks on newborn babies, but we’ll be doing a much more detailed overall check, making sure aren’t any major problems- i.e. heart murmur, dislocated hips. A few new skills to learn, but it is an interesting course. Not looking forward to doing the 3000 word assignment though!

My side of the family all met up at Olwen’s at Easter, as her son, Charlie, was 2. I met my new niece, Hollie, for the first time.

Gwion Holding Cousin Hollie, March 2005

Gwion wasn’t sure what to make of her, and he didn’t like me holding her initially. I had him sit on the sofa with me, and he kept turning his back on us! Eventually his curiosity got the better of him and he wanted to hold Hollie, and kept giving her sws’s (Welsh for kiss).

Cousins Aimee and Charlie, March 2005

Our family is increasing again, as Rhodri’s brother, Nick, and his wife, Kate, announced that they are expecting their first baby in mid August! So from December 2004 ‘til October 2005 there will have been 6 new additions! 3 on Rhodri’s side, and 4 on mine (that’s counting us twice!) It’s going to be great having all these little cousins growing up together (when we do get together, as we all live miles apart!) and all being around the same age groups!
