This month has come and gone very quickly, especially as our referral should arrive in July!
We’ve been round to visit both sides of the family this month, so Gwion has seen all his cousins!
We started our family visit at Rhodri’s parents in Abergavenny. Gwion kept saying (in the couple of days leading up to going away) that he was going to see Nain and Taid! He was really excited to be going. Once there he remembered from our last visit 6 months earlier, that his Dad and Taid had got out the old Hornby train set and had it running round the lounge! He could even point to exactly where it went! We were amazed that Gwion could remember so much as he wasn’t even 2 when we last visited!

We met up with Nick and Kate (whose baby is due end of August), and Vanessa, Hayden, Isabel and Lewis for a day in the Cotswolds. It was the first time we’d all been together for over a year, and Gwion and I finally got to meet baby Lewis! The weather was very good.

Gwion and Grandad
After our weekend visit to Abergavenny, Gwion and I went on to my parents. (Rhodri had to go back home to work; I had a week's holiday!) We spent 5 days with Granny and Grandad, which Gwion enjoyed.
It meant he could also see two other cousins, Aimee and Hollie. Gwion and Aimee played well together. Aimee had just turned 3 when we were in Abergavenny and unfortunately we missed her birthday party as we had already arrived that weekend away. Gwion was very taken with Hollie and wanted to take her home with us! Hopefully that bodes well for him having a little sister/brother soon! Again we had very good weather until we had to travel to my sister Olwen’s in Birmingham, when we drove through thunderstorms

Luckily it only rained for two days, because on the 3rd day we went to the CACH (children adopted from China, UK version of FCC) summer picnic, which was near where Olwen lives. Rhodri came down for that, and Olwen, Phil and Charlie came with us, too. We had a great day. Gwion and Charlie loved playing on the bouncy castle, and trying out the tightrope walk (holding onto Mam and Dad’s hands!) It also gave Rhodri and I the opportunity to meet other parents who’ve already adopted from China, other parents waiting to adopt, and Gwion played “peek-a-boo” with one little girl, who when she went away from him he shouted out, “China come back”! He didn’t know her name.

Exciting times at the end of the month seeing some of the December DTC referrals come through. Cut off point appears to be a LID of December 21, so hopefully that means we’ll definitely be getting our referral in July. But the UK June referrals still haven’t arrived, and we’re feeling a little bit “left out”. Maybe our referral will come in at the beginning of August, rather than the end of July!
