Our Family (Isle of Anglesey, Wales. Nov 2004)

We had a bit of a hiccup with our China medicals, as our GP hadn’t put down the date of our urine test, so those papers had to be sent back to us to be dated, and then we sent them back again. But finally our papers were sent to our Notary, and we went to see him on the 11th Nov, with a rewritten letter to the CCAA, being more specific about the age of the baby we wanted to adopt. I’d heard on the Chinese adoption website that the CCAA take “a lot of note” of what you say in your letter to them, and I suddenly got concerned that we would have too close an age gap between Gwion and our new baby. So I emphasized that we wanted a minimum of 18-months between them, and if possible as close to two years. I put down Gwion’s birthdate to add extra emphasis. Whether it has any affect, we have to wait and see.

In the meantime, we joined the December DTC group as soon as it was set up at the end of October. Mostly Americans on the site, but it’s fun getting to know people, and finding out that different countries do adoptions quite differently, and everything seems much faster in the USA than here in the UK!
