We met "later" in life and married in our early 40s after meeting online and being pen pals for about four years. We live in a more rural location in Wisconsin where we have a little over six acres, three dogs, and a little black cat. It has been a blast - with learning about tractors and shrews, listening to the elk bugle from nearby, finding people camped in the front yard, and having an armed hunter poised for a deer to pass through.
Here we are enjoying
the Milwaukee Zoo
We were both pleased and surprised when we learned Thanksgiving weekend that first year that we were expecting. Mary Elisabeth made her appearance on July 29th, my dad's 81st birthday. She is pure joy and a blessing. We have adapted our lives to center around her in that Marty is a stay-at-home dad and does all the traditional cooperative preschool activities, and I work exclusively from home as well.
Our decision to adopt was one based on much prayer and our love for children and desire to expand our family. We are each the youngest of four children and cherish our siblings. We wish for Mary and Julia to have the experience of sharing, fussing, compromising, loving, and embracing a lifelong friend.
Mary is now almost four and Julia just turned 17 months. We eagerly anticipate the next chapter of the Phillipson family saga!
