We are thrilled to share our journey to China with our family, friends and those who are waiting or researching adoption from China. A little about us....we met at a company sales meeting in January 1998, fell in love and got engaged in July 1998. Kelley moved from Boston to Texas in November 1998 (talk about culture shock) and we were married on May 8, 1999. We were working hard and traveling a lot for business as well as pleasure. In 2001, Kelley quit her job in marketing to pursue her teaching certification. At this time we thought for sure that we would get pregnant since we would actually spend a lot more time in the same state! Obviously God had another plan for us! In April 2002, we started to talk about adoption. Kelley hit the Internet and searched every site available about every possible adoption option. Her heart kept leading her to China and to Great Wall China Adoption, so the decision was made! In May 2002, we made the big announcement to our families....we were adopting a baby girl from China! After a lot of paperwork and 10 months worth of anxious waiting to receive our referral and another 9 weeks before we left, we traveled to China in December to adopt our daughter Emily Tian. Even before we left China with Emily, we talked about coming back to adopt again. Fast forward to August 2004 and boy did those eight months fly by! We started the whole paperwork process again for Emily’s mei mei and hoped to submit our completed dossier in early January 2005 to celebrate Emily’s 2nd birthday. Well, paperwork glitches slowed us down a bit and we sent our dossier to China on January 28th.
It was logged in with the CCAA on February 21st and our official wait began. On September 2, 2005 our phone rang with the news that Emily was officially a big sister! We are so excited to have the opportunity to welcome another little girl to our family and thrilled to be returning to China after being there a little less than two years ago. At this point, we have to almost pinch ourselves to believe that we really are going back and that we’re going to be the parents of two beautiful little girls! We are so very blessed!
Click on “Our Travels” to follow our journey to China and back to the United States with Emily’s baby sister. We will begin our journey on November 5th. To answer the question that we’ve been getting a lot recently....No, we are not taking Emily with us. She is having Grammy and Pop Pop come over to play with her while we’re gone. We’re sure that it will be harder on us than it will be on her since she has her grandparents wrapped around her little finger! See more about Emily and our 2003 journey at:
Thank you so much to our family and friends who have given us your support and prayers as we’ve created our family through the miracle of adoption. Kelley, Chuck and Emily Prahl
