Today we decided to go to Antigua. It is the original capital of Guatemala but several earthquakes destroyed most of the city and the capital was moved. There are many old church ruins and a lot of historical sights.

One of the neatest things is the Hotel Casa de Santo Domingo. It is an old monastery that has been made into a hotel. Much of the monastery is still intact and it is beyond words. It is peaceful and beautiful.

Caitlan and Timm went into the old part of the monastery while I fed Elyana. There is artwork and statues dating back 1000 years. There is even a crypt that has been uncovered recently. You have to go down in an underground tomb and the bones are still there. There were several in glass above ground. You can see from Caitlan's expression that she wasn't impressed with the remains!

We also bought a Mayan wrap today. It is the way the Mayan women carry their children.

They are really comfortable and much easier on your back than the carriers we have in the USA.

We have begun packing for our trip to Atlanta tomorrow. Hard to believe that the time to come home is already here! We can't wait to get to the USA and make a few phone calls. We will call family tomorrow. We are still planning on being back in Des Moines at 11:30 am on Saturday morning.
Can't wait to see you there!
