Recommended Products and their latest versions. These are all final release versions of programs that we use on our personal computers. Better yet: they're all FREE*. We recommend avoiding "beta" release as they are considered to be in testing and may still be "buggy".

The following Browser ID utility is Javascript and detects general IE and Netscape. If you have either browser (or equivalent) with Java enabled then you should see green text; Firefox may be detected as Netscape. No cookies are being deposited and no information is being harvested.

*IE 8 is designed for Win7 and Vista, but is also compatible with XP systems provided they have the proper patches and hardware
(including dual-core processor, graphics card, SP2, and Adobe Flash 10 ActiveX). Lesser-endowed XP's should continue to use IE7.

*IE9 is currently in Beta release. Until the Full and Final version is released CF will continue to recommend IE8.

**Though Firefox 3.6 will run under 64-bit Win7, Mozilla Firefox does not officially support 64-bit Operating systems. 64-bit FF is currently in development; release date TBA. See here for more information.

**Firefox 2.x support has been discontinued by Mozilla as of Dec 2009; final update is 2.0.0.19.
Firefox 3.0 support has been discontinued by Mozilla as of Jan 2010.
Firefox 3.5 support has been discontinued by Mozilla as of August 2010.
Gecko 1.8 support (engine underlying FF2, and Thunderbird 2) will be discontinued by Mozilla as of a yet unpublished date*.
Gecko 1.9 (FF3) support calendar has not been announced.
Gecko 2.0 will be released under FF4 which is currently in Beta.

*Date believed to be at some point in 2011 or 2012. Will advise as information becomes available.
