Ignatius “John” Sybrandy, age 81 of
Matamoras, PA, passed away
July 6, 2017 at home. He was
born on
January 9, 1936 in
Medemblik, Holland, the son of George Sybrandy and Anna Maria
Roozendaal Sybrandy.
John Married Janny Van Gilst Sybrandy who
pre-deceased him on
August 16, 2016.
He was a very faithful member of St.
Joseph’s R.C. Church, Matamoras, PA and an active member of John
Paul II Knights of Columbus Council 13935 in Milford, PA. He is also
a former District Deputy, Past Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator
of the Bishop McCormack 4th Degree Assembly. He is a life member of
the Matamoras Rod & Gun Club, a member of the Matamoras Borough
Council and Planning Board. He was a former Boy Scout Assistant
Scout Master for Troop #173, Boy Scouts of America, Port Jervis.
John owned and operated Sybrandy’s
Deli in Matamoras for many years. He was a retired security receiver
at Shop Rite Food Store in Montague and Middletown and a retired
transportation coordinator at Glen Arden, Goshen, NY.
John is survived by his four sons,
Cornelius A. Sybrandy and Vanessa of Marriottsville, MD, Paul George
Sybrandy and Diana of Carbondale, PA, Johannes P. Sybrandy and his
wife, Amber of Dingman’s Ferry, PA, George Rodgers and Kathy of
Oakridge, NJ; two daughters, Anna M. Rolando and her husband, Doc of
Hewitt, NJ, Patricia C. Fernot of Vernon, NJ; his sister, Catharina
DeVries; two brothers, Johannes P. Sybrandy and Bernardus Sybrandy
all of Holland; 19 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. John
was pre-deceased by his brother, Peter B. Sybrandy.
Visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m.
Monday, July 10, at the
Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.
Knights of Columbus will conduct services
Monday evening at 7 p.m. at
the funeral home.
Prayers will be offered 9:15 a.m.
Tuesday at the
Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial
at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Matamoras, PA. Rev. Alfred
Vito will be the celebrant. Interment will be private.
