Hello!

Since the first thing I go to when I visit homepages is the "about me" page I thought I'd better get cracking and make a specific "about me" page myself. I enjoy reading pages about the author of the website first because then as I view their site I feel as if I am visiting an old friend.

I live in Michigan, USA. I live near the same small town where I grew up. Small towns are nice in the fact that just about everyone knows everyone else. But....as they say you know you live in a small town when you have to lock your car in the summer, because if you don't when you come back out the backseat will be full of zucchini!

I have more hobbies that I can keep up with. I love to read, hence all the author/book information you will find on my pages. I have a lot of indoor plants but I am still learning about growing herbs. I enjoy doing craft projects out of natural items (such as dried fruit, pinecones, leaves etc.) I dry my own fruit for the simple craft projects. I enjoy crossword puzzles but it seems I never get a chance to do them anymore. I also enjoy woodcarving when I make the time to do it.

Collections. This could be a long list so I will try to keep it as brief as possible. *G* My main collections are anything to do with golden retrievers, books, Hull & McCoy Pottery (brown glaze) and realistic animal magnets. I am a pack rat!! And if you don't believe me just ask my husband! *L*

I enjoy watching the birds and I am continually adding to my "habitat". I have all kinds of birdfeeders near my windows so I can watch them up close. There is a watergarden near most of the feeders and I still get a kick out of watching them bathe. Every year we have a "nest hunt" and see how many nests we can find. The fun part is trying to identify the bird who occupies the nest! We have an owl nesting nearby so I often listen to him "talk" in the evening, and my husband sees him looking for breakfast many mornings. There is also a Bald Eagle who occasionally comes around.

I grew up on a farm & love being around animals. I have a golden retriever, a cat and a dwarf Netherland rabbit. The rabbit lives in a cage in the house. He enjoys running around on the floor but always makes a game out of being caught when it's time to go back to his "condo". My golden is very spoiled and has more toys than she knows what to do with. The cat's (strictly indoor) favorite hobby is watching the birds out the window. I have had all kinds of small animals as pets including: guinea pigs, hamsters, mice and lab rats. We tried putting fish in the watergarden but the raccoons took care of that in a couple of days. We want to set up an aquarium again & hope to someday have horses.

My husband & I live on 10 acres a couple miles out of town. We are fortunate to be surrounded by pine trees, woods & a creek in the back. So we have a lot of wildlife. The deer frequently graze in our backyard on the way to the neighbors pond. Even though I have been around deer all my life it is still a thrill to come across a newborn fawn laying in the grass. Besides all the birds some of the critters we have seen on our property include: opossums, turkeys, snapping turtles, racoons, rabbits (TONS of rabbits!), squirrels and deer. We often listen to the coyotes howl as we get ready to retire for the evening.
