I've started collecting diecast models when I was 18 years old. At that time I was collecting alle scales and not only Mercedes-Benz models, I just bought what I liked but I already had a prefference for Mercedes models.
A few years later I was specializing my collection to Mercedes-Benz, and sold, traded or gave all the other models away.
At this moment my collection consists of approximately 220 1:43 th scale models, and some 30 models in other scales.
Even non-model cars have my interest. I own a hot air ballon in 1:87 th scale and even a Mercedes bike.
Most of the models are bought in specialized shops throughout the country, I seldomly buy something on auctions or fairs, only the models I need to fill the gaps in my collection like the Mercedes 150 H roadster 1935. I do not collect at any cost, and I do not collect for the increase in value. My aim is own a model of every Mercedes-Benz ever produced. At this moment I think I own about 80% of the models ever produced bij Daimler-Benz. Starting with the Benz Patent Motorwagen and Daimler Motorkutsche till the latest version of the SL-class.
