"When I first arrived in Japan, I started to train under Nagayo Shimate, a martial master who trains assassins. I went to him, and asked if he could train me. He asked me why I wanted to learn. I told him so I could protect my family. For generations now my family has been wealthy, we invest in stocks and other enterprises. Because of my families financial status, we were constantly in danger of people trying to take advantage of that. After my first year of training with Shimate, I became his best student. He made extra time for me and I trained everyday, all day. I remember one day I had received a call from my parents, it was about my two sisters. Apparently two weeks ago they had been kidnapped and held for ransom. My parents didn't even tell me, they said that they thought I would come home and try to rescue them, getting all three of us killed. It turned out that after my parents paid the 5 million dollar ransom, they killed my sister anyways, they killed them in cold blood. They were only 16 and 22." Throttle looks at Tiko, she is staring at a spot on the floor, tears running down her face. "After I found out the news I went ballistic. Whenever I trained with the other students I would hurt them and I showed no control. Finally, Shimate took me into the mountains and decided to train me there. He worked with me everyday and slowly I started to become who I once was. Then about 4 months later I was doing some training exercises in the woods alone. I finished my entire workout before I noticed there was a man watching me. I turned to him and he smiled. I didn't think anything of it, so I picked up my gear and started to walk back home, but he stepped in my way. I asked him to move but he just kept smiling. So I started to walk around him. He grabbed my arm so I twisted from his grasp and kicked him in the face. He fell backwards and started to laugh. I remember that he just kept laughing. I was going to run, but he pulled out a sword that he had strapped to his back. I hadn't even seem it till then. We squared off and I realized that I would be unable to run, he was to big and would catch me easily, so I stood and fought. I continued using my smaller size to my advantage. He would swing the sword and I would dodge it, all the time landing blows quickly before he could swing his sword again. He stopped laughing and had a angry look in his eyes, he hated me for making him look like a fool, and I hated him, for he reminded me of the kind of man that would have kill my sisters. I let hate cloud my mind and it made me weak. I punched for his face and exposed the left side of my face to him. He pressed the advantage and sliced his sword down, cutting my face. I remember the blood blinding my left eye, I didn't have depth perception and the pain was horrible. He pressed the advantage again and tried to stabbed my leg. I rolled though and he tripped on a root, his sword falling from his hands. I picked it up and pointed it at his throat. He begged me not to kill him, he said he was sorry. It was then that I felt pure rage, I could see my sisters faces begging for mercy just as this man was. That was the first time I used the quote, 'Did you know that the eyes are a window to a persons soul?' I use that quote anytime I look into the eyes of someone I am about to kill. I then stabbed him threw the throat, he bled to death before my eyes. I remember to this day that I smiled, I enjoyed killing him, but at the same time I had killed my innocence." Tiko gets up from the bed and looks into Charlie's bedroom mirror. She slowly runs her fingers over her scar, "this scar reminds me of what I once was, what I had lost and now what I have become." Throttle rises from the bed and kisses Tiko's scar, he can feel a tear fall from her eye onto his lips. "That was in the past, it doesn't matter anymore."
Tiko smiles at Throttle and cups his right cheek. "There's more. I still need to tell you why I call Charlie Little Butterfly." Throttle nods and leads Tiko to the bed. She sits down and takes a deep breath. "When I returned to the dojo, I sat before my master. I explained to him what happened, and what I felt when I killed the man. I also brought back his sword, it is the same sword I use now, it reminds me to not let hate cloud you mind. I remember that my master didn't even flinch or react in anyway when I told him what I did. He wasn't mad at me for shattering months of hard training, he simple told me a story. It's a story about a butterfly who wishes it was a hawk. The butterfly watches the hawk everyday catch it's prey for sport, all the time wishing it was the same. Then one day the butterfly sees a tiny rabbit caught in a snare. It flies to a nearby leaf and watches as the infant tries to free itself. It screams when it hears the hawk approaching, it's an awful scream, like that of a human child in pain. The butterfly watches as the hawk swoops down and tears the rabbit in half, blood flying onto the butterflies wings. It is then at that moment that the butterfly knows why it must always be thankful for not being a bird of prey, for then it would be a animal that has no mercy or love in its heart." Tiko looks up at Throttle and sees the understanding in his eyes. "That is why I call Charlie little butterfly, because she is innocent and has never killed. And I will do everything in my power to make sure she never becomes a hawk, like I once was." Throttle wipes away the tears that are falling from Tiko's face, "I am sorry that I ever doubted you Tiko, I am so sorry." There is a knock at the door and Charlie speaks threw it. "Sorry guys, but the shipment is here, you need to show ID Tiko and sign the COD charge." Tiko gets up and heads for the door but she turns and smiles at Throttle when she hears his whisper, *ashite masu.* "Throttle, where did you learn that?" Throttle walks up to Tiko and kisses her forehead, "from Charlie." Tiko then goes downstairs and signs for the delivery.
