Greg MacPherson

I had the pleasure of seeing Greg play at Variety Night '98 held in the Tache Auditorium of the University of Manitoba. I've never heard a more powerful sound come from one man and a guitar. His style is very folk-influenced, yet hard to describe. Some songs have a laid back east coast sound, while others are dark, driving and powerful.

By far, my favourite song of his is, "The Company Store". It's actually not one of his favourites, according to one of his friends. He wrote it about his grandfather who worked in a coal mine and participated in the burning of the mine's company store during a month long strike. Its an amazing song. Email: Greg and tell him to record it!

*Update! Greg has been working two jobs saving money to record another CD. He hopes to go into the studio sometime in December. He is currently looking to set up an eastern tour early in '99. So watch for him Gang !
