Group Size:This dolphin will for groups of generally 2-8 and
2-30 dolphins at a time. However, there are some groups f 100 or more in some of this species
range.
Behavior: Hector’s Dolphin will very rarely ride bow waves,
but they will often swim in the waves created by passing boats. They will also swim along boats
for short distances. However, they prefer motionless or slow vessels, the faster boats will be
avoided usually. This dolphin will be more active when they are joined by smaller groups.
Where to look for Hector’s Dolphins:Coastal waters of New
Zealand, especially South Island and the western coast of North Island.

Diet: They eat various types of fish, octopus, squid, and krill
or other types of crustaceans.
