tae kwon do
tae kwon do is an unnamed korean martial art developed 2,000 years ago during the silla dynasty where it was then known as tae kyon employing mainly feet movements. through constant study, combined hand and foot movement was developed forming a very skillful self-defense now known as tae kwon do.

tae kwon do is a combination of three korean words: "tae" meaning to kick or smash with feet; "kwon" meaning to punch or destroy with hands or fists; and "do" meaning the art, method or way.

objectives of tae kwon do

1. to develop an appreciation for Taekwondo as a sport and as an art
2. to achieve physical fitness through positive participation
3. to improve mental discipline and emotional equanimity
4. to learn self-defense skills
5. to develop a sense of responsibility for one self and others.

tenets of tae kwon do

1. ye ui - courtesy
2. yom chi - integrity
3. in nae - perseverance
4. jahjeh - self-control
5. baekjool - indomitable spirit
