Thoughts

A few quotes worth remembering. Courtesy of DxShorty. 1) There are three things extremely hard: steel, a diamond, and to know one self. (I'm still working on this one myself. =) Hopefully I'll find part of my answer this summer.) 2) Doing injury puts you below your enemy; Revenging one makes you but even with him; Forgiving it sets you above him. 3) Man's tongue is soft, and bone doth lack; Yet a stroke therewith may break a man's back.

Something to think about: I am Thankful... For the teenager who is not doing dishes but is watching t.v., because that means he is at home and not on the streets. For the taxes that I pay because it means that I'm employed. For the mess to clean after a party because it means that I have been surrounded by friends. For the clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough to eat. For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home. For all the complaining I hear about the government because it means that we have the freedom of speech. For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means I am capable of walking and that I have been blessed with transportation. For my huge heating bill, because it means I am warm. For the lady behind me in church that sings off key because it means that I can hear. For the pile of laundry that needs cleaning and folding because it means that I have clothes to wear. For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means that I have been capable of working hard. For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means that I am alive.

"Parents always make their worst mistakes with the oldest children. That's when parents know the least and care the most, so they're more likely to be wrong and also more likely to insist that they're right." ~Orson Scott Card, Xenocide 1991

It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all. Is it better to meet the person you've dreamed of and never be able to have them or is it better to never have met them at all?

The greatest risk in life is falling in love.
We all should live life to the fullest everyday, and yet we are so caught up with all the "important matters" of the day, that we forget this simple fact. It is only when reminded, do we realize that we have to live life a little more. Afterwards, the thought slips away and we go right back to where we started from. Let this reminder to live life to the fullest make your day a little more significant.

Why is it that we so often realize the significance of a person only after they are gone? There isn't enough time to love and live. What a shame...

Humans like to take everything for granted. 75% of the people in this world are stupid. Don't be one of them.

Candlelight dinners, moonlit walks along the beach, a peaceful night under the stars... if only there was more time for this right girls? =)

The Opening

Seed said to flower:
You are too rich and wide.
You spend too soon and loosely
That grave and spacious beauty
I keep secret, inside.
You will die of your pride.

Flower said to seed:
Each opens, gladly
Or in defeat. Clenched, close,
You hold a hidden rose
That will break you to be,
Free of your dark modesty.

-Jon Swan, 1959

Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if I had to perish twice
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

-Robert Frost

I Have Come to the Conclusion

I have come to the conclusion
she said
that when we fall in love
we really fall in love with ourselves-
that we choose particular people
bcause they provide
the particular mirrors
in which we wish to see.

And when did you discover
this surprising bit of knowledge?
he asked.

After I had broken a few
very fine mirrors
she said.

If i had a nickel
For all the women who've
Rejected me in my life
I would be the head of the
World Bank with a flunkie
To hold my derby as i
Prepare to fly chartered
Jet to sign a check
Giving India a new lease
On life

If i had a nickel for
All the women who've loved
Me in my life i would be
The World Bank's assistant
Janitor and wouldn't need
To wear a derby
All i'd think about would
Be going home
