Good Medicine History

Good Medicine was formed in the Autumn of 1997. Dave Weber, the band's lead singer, guitarist and harmonica player had been doing solo gig for years, using electronic backups, which he enjoyed.

But he got a hankerin' to play with live musicians, like he used to years before. On a whim, he stuck a notice on the corkboard of a drum store in Toms River, NJ. His first response resulted in a painful jam session which left Dave discouraged.

Then he got a call from George Gregory, who sounded on the phone like a very nice fellow. Dave was going through a difficult physical rehabilitation for a back injury when George first called and so it was several months of phone conversations before they actually managed to get together. Of course a bass player was absolutely essential for the initial session. Fortunately George had been playing with a fine bass player and singer named Greg Leeper. Unfortunately, Greg didn't last the year. Family obligations took him to the Iowa.....too far to commute.

The Ghost of Medicine Present

Good Medicine playing live at Buckalew's in Beach Haven, NJ. This is one of the band's most regular and enjoyable gigs. Long Beach Island is beautiful year round and Buckalew's always gets a great crowd in the heart of the Island's Entertainment Center.

The Current lineup

After the "disturbing" loss of Greg Leeper. Dave & George scrambled a bit to fill that essential bass/vocalist spot. Despite his distance from the founding members, Greg Schrier acquiesced to Dave's pleading to join the band. Greg had been in various projects with Dave over the years, knew all the material and was willing to do the work that would make GOOD MEDICINE a band to contend with. Dave, George and Greg are enjoyable because they enjoy what they do. They truly love playing & the music they play.

Good Medicine is Awesome

The band at the Lighthouse in Waretown, NJ. This is a long term, regular gig that is a featured showcase for Good Medicine. Especially enjoyable are the Halloween Party and the Fat Tuesday Celebration, both of which Good Medicine plays. Check out the Lighthouse review on the Venues Page.
