Barely a month passed when she got an e-mail from him...he was confused...had deep feelings for her...and
wanted to know where things were going...what she wanted. Never having feelings like that before, and with
everything happening so fast, Lane didn't know what to do. He told Sunny she just didn't know HOW much
he cared for her...she knew though.

In many ways, she was afraid of him...waiting for the hurt...trying to build trust. Agreeing that things were
moving too fast, she couldn't give him an answer.

With all of the their chatting in one room, they were considered a couple, and both enjoyed it...so much flirting.
She smiled when she thought about it...laughed when he was jealous, thinking she was in another room flirting.
That wasn't her style.

When he was off work, they talked during the day while she took a break from hers. They were getting too
close, and she was bracing herself for more pain and hurt.

This was all wrong...Sunny had a boyfriend...Rick...and they had been
together for nearly a year. Distance and time, as well as his job, kept
them apart...he just wasn't there enough, and she was attaching
herself to another. This wasn't unusual in the cyber world...yet she
knew that she could never hurt either of them. Her heart was being
tugged in two directions...her head lost in the clouds somewhere...again.

News of the boyfriend disappointed Lane, but their friendship prevailed...
they tried to pull away from each other, but it was fruitless, never lasting
more than half a day...if even that.

There was a naughtiness about them, and the messages were hot
and steamy at times, neither knowing when to quit...both pushing
the envelope. The unavoidable was going to happen, and when it did,
they were even closer. His fingers worked magic on the
keyboard as did hers...teasing and pleasing with their words.
So much passion in those words...it left them both breathless.
Deeper, stronger feelings for Lane came upon Sunny...she
remembered similar ones for another, a while back. These
ones for Lane were different though...more meaningful.

When his classes started, he still sent messages
every morning...with her returning as many to
his cell pager...very erotic ones at times,
knowing how they were getting to
him. Phone calls were economical
as she had a package with the
phone company, they talked
at great length...probably
more than most people
do face to face.

Some mornings, her ICQ was flooded with messages, she'd blush, thinking how she was going to get back at him ...he knew she would, and did. She loved how he typed and recalled one morning when her ICQ lit up with scores of steamy messages from him. Her heart racing she read them, saving every one, to pour over each again and again. They were so erotic...he had spent an hour writing them...she could tell by how they were worded. Sunny wondered if he would he be like that if they met?

Communication was a bit of a problem with her...she couldn't completely open up to him...not just yet...she
wanted to. There were still so many walls from before to break down...she was trying though.

The thought of meeting was continually in the back of their minds, him mentioning it numerous times.
Another friend suggested they should meet without telling Rick, but Sunny's conscience would haunt her
forever. Other reasons that superseded any meeting were there, but she never talked about them.

Each time Rick came for the weekend or a holiday, Sunny still went on-line to say hello, or give a
quick call to Lane. His friendship meant more to her than she could ever tell him.

She developed a slight crush on another friend that wouldn't amount to anything...maybe it was her
way of trying to break away from the addiction of HIM. It didn't work...she wasn't happy with the way
things were, and she was going to be hurt again.

The profound feelings Sunny had for Lane were far more powerful than
any she'd encountered on-line. Uncanny as it was, he could read her
thoughts, and even though she denied what she was thinking...everything
he read and told her was true and he knew it.

Lane had put his name on an ad page on-line, wanting to meet
females from near where he lived. A few responses came in...
he chatted with them, but nothing came of those conversations...
nothing until he received an e-mail from one who had all of the
same interests he did...Amy. They e-mailed back and forth
and after a few weeks, she sent him her phone number. Talking
for hours over one weekend, and deciding to meet that next
Monday, she was what he needed...someone he could talk to...
be honest and open with...communicate with.

As with any of her other friends, Sunny wished him
happiness and that was all that mattered.

It never hit her how intense her feelings for him
were till he mentioned that Amy was
spending the weekend. Sunny couldn't
bear to listen to him talk about
her without getting choked up.

Struggling with her feelings for him, that never should have been in the first place, was driving her crazy...Sunny had to do something. A call in the middle of the night to Rick resulted in him traveling hundreds of miles to be with her...she went to him ready to tell all. But, for some reason he knew something was bothering her but, didn't need details...he'd been there before with these on-line things with her...he had read about one, and had held her with the last one, her tears tearing at him. Regretting the short times they had together, he made arrangements to be nearer to her within the next two weeks...knowing he should have been there long before.

Looking into Rick's eyes, Sunny saw more love than she could even imagine...he was doing this for them...
he knew where she belonged.

Telling her to go back home and write would keep her occupied till he could get there...he knew how much
she loved that. She could write about all of this...as much as she could remember, as much as some of it
might hurt...after all, she was a writer. She began the story the day she got back, hoping that it would help her
deal with everything...it was a start.
