NIN videos
"Down In It"
Dir: Eric Zimmerman & Benjamin Stokes
Down in It, was never
shown on MTV in its original form. In the original video, Trent
falls off the building he is walking on, and is shown dead. The censored version is
pretty much the same thing, with the scenes of 'Dead Trent' taken out.
"Head Like a Hole"
Dir: Eric Zimmerman
A 'live' video in which the band is in a cage-like stage. Toward the end
the band is overtaken by the surroundings, resulting in an upside-down,
suspended Trent.
"Sin"
Dir: Brett Turnbull
A video for Sin was shot but never commercially released, due to Trent's objections with TVT's editing. What wasn't destroied after eight years was featured on halo tweleve, the NIN video release, Closure. The mostly black and white video features Trent playing a game of slave and master with a half-naked women.
"Pinion"
Dir: Eric Goode & Serge Becker
Pinion basically starts off
with a toilet being flushed, then you follow the flushed water down the
plumbing until it gets to the mouth of a bound man being tortured.
"Wish"
Dir: Peter Christopherson
Wish is another 'live' video, this one is in an elaborate caged-in
'stage' in which the audience is trying to get to the band through the
cage. At the end of the un-edited version, they finally break through
and get Trent.
"Help Me I am in Hell"
Dir: Eric Goode & Serge Becker
This video is basicly a zooming shot of a man eating a meal while flies crawl on his food and into his mouth.
"Happiness in Slavery"
Dir: Jon Reiss
This video
contains a man being tortured to death
by his own free will. At the end, Trent comes in for his turn. It is all shot in black and white.
"Gave Up"
Dir: Jon Reiss
This video is a clip of the band performing the song live in the studio and features none other than Marilyn Manson on guitar.
"March of the Pigs"
Dir: Peter Christopherson
March of the Pigs was a very low budget, thrown together live performance
of the track, the version of the song used was actually the bands' 'performance' of the song. Very good video.
"Closer"
Dir: Mark Romanek
Closer was nine inch nails' 'breakthrough' video. Much of it was filmed
on old 1920s' file Trent acquired. It was put out in 2 versions: MTV's
censored one with 'scene missing' in place of some of the more explicit
shots, and the uncensored version.
"Burn"
Dir: Hank Corwin
Burn was a video for the soundtrack to 'Natural Born Killers'. The video
contains many scenes from the movie, and Trent singing in a white
tee-shirt and jeans.
"Hurt (live)"
Dir: Simon Maxwell
Hurt is a live video from the 94-95 tour, shot in Omaha/Dallas. The backdrop contains footage of rapidly decaying
animals, predators, and old World War II footage.
"The Perfect Drug"
Dir: Mark Romanek
This video boasts Trent with a goatee, and visuals that
appear
to be taken straight from the artwork of Edward Gorey. Trent is also pictured
preparing and drinking absinthe, a very potent and illegal alcoholic
beverage.
"The Day the World Went Away"
There was a video shot for "The Day the World Went Away" in New York but, for an unkown reason it was never released. From what I've heard it involved Trent turning into different plants and animals.
"We're In This Together"
Dir: Mark Pellington
The black & white video for "We're In This Together" is shots put together of Trent and many others all dressed in black running away, the video ends in the desert where everyone disappears but Trent.
