Don Henley in Cincinnati! I was there!

It all started with a radio contest to see The Black Crowes in Memphis and The Eagles in Cincinnati. I knew I HAD to win, because no one wanted to see them more than me! After waiting four l-o-n-g days to announce the winner, they finally did, and it was ME!

When we arrived in Cinncinati, everyone was talking about the near sold out concert at the Riverbend Music Theatre that night! Even the hotel elevator was playing Eagles' songs! On the cab ride over, they played only Eagles' songs on the radio. It was like being in Eagles heaven!

We get to our seats (in the 37th row) and there is a lot of excitement in the air! Everyone was as excited as I was to be there!

They take the stage at 8:30. Don Felder strums his double-necked guitar to Hotel California and everyone goes nuts! We're on our feet for 3 hours, clapping & singing along to every song. Who knew their voices would sound so PERFECT?

It was cold that night, and they were freezing on stage. Glenn was drinking tea (!) to keep warm, and they put on their Planet Hollywood leather jackets after the intermission. Except Don Henley, he decided his red 'henley' shirt was warm enough!

Back to the music. It was unbelievable! They played songs from Hotel California: Victim of Love, even New Kid In Town, one of my favorites. I wish they did The Last Resort, maybe next time! ;-) The crowd hung on their every note.

And then it happened!! Everyone was clapping & singing, and then I heard the guitar! It was Lyin' Eyes! My absolute favorite song in the whole world!! The crowed ROARED! It was the most incredible feeling, to hear 30,000 people singing along with Glenn to your favorite song! (It gives me the chills just thinking about it!)I wasn't even sure they were going to play it, and when they did, it was perfect.(I couldn't have imagined how great it would be to hear them play it in person) Everyone was still cheering when you could hear Tim on the bass. Could it be? YES! It was my second favorite song, One Of These Nights!! Back to back! I truly was in heaven! Don's voice was incredible and we sang and danced to every beat of the drums. This night was just fantastic, and it was going by much too fast!

After the intermission, it was time for the acoustic set. Tequila Sunrise was great, as was Tim singing I Can't Tell You Why. I always remember the girl in front of me. She was around 18, and everyone was sitting down. She told her boyfriend. "I can't sit down. I HAVE to dance to this song!" And she did! It just goes to show you, everyone has special moments at an Eagles' concert!

After the acoustic set, it was back on our feet for Joe Walsh tunes: Rocky Mountain Way & Life's Been Good. There was a definate party atmosphere that night! Everyone loved the video during Ordinary Average Guy! Joe even sang Help Me Through The Night! A great song!

One of my most vivid memories was of Don on the conga drums during You Belong To The City. He played his heart out! I thought for sure he would have a heart attack! He was so into it, I couldn't take my eyes off of him! (Not that I wanted to! LOL) Glenn's voice was incredible on this song, too!

During Already Gone, Glenn was singing and of course, we were singing along with him. He turned the microphone to us and we sang the chorus! He seemed to enjoy it, and we sang all the louder! They seemed to enjoy us getting into every song with them! That's they way concerts should be!

I remember Don standing center stage, ready to sing a song. What would it be? Scott Crago was on drums and Don starts clapping his hands over his head! It was Get Over It! I really liked this song, and I wish it had done better on the radio! Don Got so into this song, He really enjoyed us clapping & singing along!

As we were leaving, everyone was commenting on how perfect their harmonies were, how could it have been 14 years since they sang together!? It only shows you how much talent they have.

I only wish they made a video of this concert, so I could relive this perfect night over and over! Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera with me, but the hotel had complimentary newspapers of The Cinncinnati Post. The next day, there they were, on the front page! A big beautiful color picture with the caption, 'Eagles Take It To The Limit At Riverbend'. Yes, they certainly did. Thanks,Don, Glenn, Joe,Don & Timothy for one incredible night I will never forget.
