Desktop Decor: Cool 3D Wallpaper

Tired of boring, plain desktop wallpaper? We at Samarican Graphical Industries believe that the desktop should be a pleasing experience for the eyes, so, we created these unique images for your optical enrichment. Browse through the thumbnails, and if you want to view a picture at its full size, click the thumbnail. We apologize on behalf of the Internet for the poor image quality that may be present. This page should load just fine for all you dial-up folks. Thanks to my tedious icon-making.

Ever the critic, my sister didn't like the islands on "Even More 'Beachy'" and "Palm Atoll" so I did a "remix," if you will, and they came out pretty cool. "Even More 'Beachy.'" "Palm Atoll."
Many of you may wonder why I only have 800 x 600 size images. I'm so desperate to update this site that I've decided to reveal the method behind my madness. I could make 640 x 480 sizes, but why waste time with that when a good OS would just resize an 800 x 600 just fine? But then there's the 1024 x 640. I would do those, but they take up so much disk space, and frankly, I don't want to render and store such dadgum big files on my hard drive or website. So now you know.

Wet Rock Country
Yep, another canyon. Can you tell I like canyons. And rocks. And deserts. And I like desserts, too.

Summer's Sea
I was rendering one day and my sister suddenly let out an unearthly gasp. She does that a lot, mostly when she sees stemware. But anyway, she gasped because she liked the picture that was on the screen. So I named it "Summer's Sea."

Summer's Valley
She gasped at this one, too. And I let her tell me where to put the palm trees. True, it's hardly possible that a palm tree would actually grow up there, but it's Summer's valley...

Invaders on Planet Sartarii
The enemy approaches the small, peaceful planet of Sartarii in preparation for an attack. (Don't tell anybody, but their ships are just flying hubcaps...)

Invaders
Can you tell I like the word "invaders," too? You're supposed to be in the bloodstream and those green things are supposed to be viruses. Maybe one day my erythrocytes* will look better. (*fancy word for red blood cell...isn't it fun to say?)

Secret Cave
I've always wanted a secret underground cave where I could do experiments and putter around like a mad scientist. Haven't you?

Ozymandias
"...Two vast and trunkless legs of stone/ Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,/ Half sunk, a shattered visage lies...And on the pedestal these words appear:/ 'My name is Ozymanidas, king of kings:/ Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'/ Nothing beside remains: round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare, the lone and level sands stretch far away." — Byron

Something
I had done this a long time ago, but it took so long to render, and I didn't think it was that great, so I gave up. I decided to put this up because it's weird but slightly cool.

Desert Lake
This one is pretty cool. Photo-realistic even. I didn't expect it to come out like this. It's different from any other one I've done so far. I guess the old adage is true: Bryce is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna render.

Fire Lake Sunset
What is it with me and deserts and water these days? Am I thirsty? Do I need to pee? Ah ha! I know! Reflections! It all comes back to reflections! Read into this all you like, but you will not find any deep psychological issues. They're buried under a thick layer of denial.

Motor Oil Sea
A river of motor oil, flowing out to the Motor Oil Sea from a beautiful, rich land ruled by Fidel Castrol.

Counsel Fire
No, it's not the Klan. It is a group of people more feared than any other on earth. They are the People Who Read Dictionaries...For Fun!!! ::screams:: Don't worry, there's only three of them. I should know... I'm one of them! ::screams::

Alien Desert Alcove
More deserts and water, except this time it's on an alien planet. See? I am broadening my horizons.

Secret Canyon
Located deep in the deserts of a far-away land, this majestic canyon holds a myriad of mysteries in its dark, uncharted corridors.

John's Mind 2
I figured I'd do another rendition of what it would be like in John's mind. No real reason. I just wondered what it would be like if his mind was a landscape. Green and bumpy. I guess. I don't ever want to find out if that's right, though.

John's Mind 3
Yes, that is probably more like the inside of John's mind. And I think he would agree. John's mind is, I'm sure, constantly occupied with many important things, but probably the most predominant object of his attention is, of course, squirrels.

Reflections of Spheres
Experiments in abstract. There will probably be more in the near future. Hold onto your socks.

Probes on Moss Planet
A very damp planet, perfect for moss, lichen, and various types of fungi, not totally unlike my shoes.

Cubes & Spheres
A nice example of abstract 3D art. I like reflections, and I'm not ashamed of it anymore.

Cone Cave
More abstract. Now that I've thoroughly explored the world of abstract, I think I'll make more landscapes. And the polls say that ya'll want more weirdness, more real-looking scenes, and some surreal scenes. Those of you that don't vote—vote. I get depressed when nobody votes. And you don't want that, now do you?

Spheres & Pyramids
Despair not, dear Mac users! You can flip it, and it will look just as cool.

Microcosm
A world within a world. I wonder how many cities I could decimate with a single finger.

Rust-ick
Wow, it's been a long time. Busy, lazy--you pick the excuse; I'm too tired. Anyway, what brings me back to this lonely gallery? I just found this freakin' awesome program for making 3d landscapes...and it's FREE! ::squeaks with delight:: This is my first official render. I tweaked the contrast in Photoshop a bit because it was a wee bit dull. However, it still pales in comparision to the amazing and fantastic images that introduced me to the program.

Fireballs
Colors so warm and rich you can feel your flesh pooling around your ankles! Well, maybe enough to make you thirsty, at least.

Mountain Tops
What a buzzkill it must be to be on the top of the world, the crust of creation, and not be able to see any of it.

Desert Torus
Don't ask me what it is. Even if I knew what it was, I wouldn't tell you.

Pink Sprinkles
I don't know what this is either. Somethin' ugly, s'what I'd guess. Ha. Ugly with pink sprinkles. I just like rich, flesh-melting colors better. But hey, if you like you some ugly w/ sprinkles, that's OK, too.

Blue Serenity
Very peaceful, no? One day, I will take spheres and tori to the next level. Today is probably not that day. I guess that Poincare Conjecture will have to wait. But when I figure out how to make a torus into a sphere, you'll be the first to know.

Pink Bucky Diamonds
Another pink scene. Just an excuse to use a hot pink sunset and some Bucky balls. If I ever have a child, I think I'll name it Buckminster. Even if it's a girl. Just as an excuse to say "Buckminster" on a daily basis.

Robitussin Sea
Something about the color in this one makes my tongue writhe. I would suffer weeks with a cough just to avoid taking that nasty stuff. Curiously, though, this isn't my first scene inspired by cough medicine.
