Southern Cali: Sept 2003
Here's a picture of the Waterworld show at Universal Studios in Southern California when I went there in September of 2003. I flew into the LA area and cruised around, went down through San Diego, to Tijuana and back. I saw the Disney Parks, in fact, I was there the day someone got killed on the Thunder Mountain ride when it crashed off the track. In fact, if I got there any earlier, it could have very well have been ME on that same ride! I went to Venice Beach and a bunch of others. I did all the touristy things like check out Hollywood and Beverly Hills. I stopped at the San Diego Zoo when I went through San Diego. Some day I’d love to go back and see Northern California.
Down South: October 2003
Here’s a picture of an alligator that my friend and I saw down in Louisiana. The gator was in this park where you could drive your car through and just hop out and walk around. There were no barriers between us and the gator, so I only got as close as I figured I could out run it if he wanted me for lunch. It was about 5 or 6 feet long and we probably got as close as 10 to 15 feet. I guess he musta been full or something. Maybe he didn’t eat vegetarians. Avery Island is also the home of the world famous McIlhenny Tabasco Company. We went on a tour of the factory. It wasn’t really that big of a factory. I flew into Baton Rouge, Louisiana and we cruised around the area. From there, we went over to Texas and checked out Six Flags Astroworld in Houston and also went to NASA. After that, we ended up back in Louisiana and checked out New Orleans. We went around the French Quarter, The Aquarium and to Six Flags. I wasn’t overly impressed with New Orleans. Maybe I woulda been back in my partyin’ days. Next we went to Mississippi and went to the NASA Stennis Space Center, where they test the rocket engines for the space crafts. After that we drove down the gulf coast across Mississippi. I wasn’t very impressed. I thought that the water would be cleaner and clearer, but it was pretty brown. No swimming, thank-you. So we continued driving over to Alabama. We drove into Alabama and stopped at Dairy Queen and then headed back to Louisiana. There’s a lotta different critters down there than around here. Some big, nasty lookin bees and spiders down south. I think I saw saddles on ‘em !!!
