mini KNOME3

The robot has been coming along verry rapidly, the deadline for completion is next monday-the day it competes so wish me luck! I will try to get one more update up by then.

In the last report the frame was made from 1/2" lexan, that has all been replaced with plasma cut out 1/4" alluminum. Here I am cutting out a bulkhead. The edge the plasma cutter leaves is kinds rough so here I am filing the edges nice and smooth.

Here is one bulkhead done, it is sitting next to three chunks of alluminum that are awaiting the plasma cutter. My camera crapped out and I lost two days worth of pictures, but to sum it up I finished cutting the frame from 1/4" alluminum and Tig welded it together. Here is a shot of the robot with the drive platform complete. It is looking good I think.

Here is a shot of the robots electronics mounted, the radio is in one of the clear boxes, the speed controlers are in the other. I made my own speed controlers with the guts from two servo's, 4 diodes, and 4 big relays with 5V coils. Here is a shot of the lifter motor mounted, it is hard to tell you how it will work, but I will show you with pictures in the next update. You may also notice the drive motors are cordless screw drivers with the handles cut off, the sumo competitions I will be competing in make you use these and to top it off you cannot go over 3.6V.

This robot will have a 4 bar lifter verry much like Biohazard. Here is the "hand" I machined for him, all 1/4" alluminum. Here is a shot of the robot with the "hand" up front where it will be mounted to the arm.

Here is a shot of the robot next to a HITEC focusIII. The whole robot is pretty small as it has to fit into a 18"x18"x18" cube. That is all for this report, I will do one soon, hopefully before I compete with it!
