It's pretty rough to move to a new city where you don't know anyone and you're far away from your family and friends. I think I still did the right thing, I'm just not adjusted yet. It doesn't help any that I'm still getting over a breakup. So all in all I'm pretty miserable right now, but things are bound to get better. I'm just living and learning at the moment.

How to meet fellow lesbians...

There are a lot of different types of venues here for lesbians. If I wanted to get to know a group of dykes, I'd try one of the local lesbian groups like "Open House" which meets once a month and then has drinks in the bar downstairs. They just talk about whatever comes up, coming out issues - whatever. A good place to meet someone to explore other places/events with. In the gay papers here there are lists of lesbian clubs, including not only bars but things like Dykes on Bikes, walking groups, a scuba group etc... Can you get hold of a local gay newspaper over there?

Depending on your interests, you might find a lesbian/gay business club, the sort that invites speakers etc; a lesbian choir or band; or a dance group - like bootscooters. And places that organise pride events are always looking for volunteers...

also dont forget... there may be a PFLAG chapter near you... i know it is more of a support group setting but you may meet some new friends with common interests who you can hang out with...
