"The Bijou" release date

by S.A._JCFan

All I can say is that this is perfect timing. Upcomingmovies.com reports that "The Bijou", which starts production on February 15, is set to release on December 21. If there's no disruption in the filming of "The Bijou" (the supposed SAG and Writers' Guild strike), production won't be delayed. December is a nice month for heartwarming holiday movies, don't you agree? =)

It's not easy being hairy and green

Another Greeny Meany ahead?

J.A. told us this:

« A relative of mine has a friend who she said is either dating or married (can't remember exactly) to a foley artist that's set to be working on Spiderman movie. Not two days ago this relative of mine (knowing I'm a huge JC fan!!!) passingly said to me this foley artist involved had heard Sony wanted to get Jim Carrey for the role of Green Goblin. I'm not a big Spiderman fan, however this has definitely piqued my interest and I'll surely be seeing the film if Carrey does get the role. I remember Spiderman fighting Green Goblin vaguely in the cartoons, and its funny cause I remember thinking Carrey would be perfect for the part if the movie was ever made. I've read on a few newsgroups about Raimi wanting Carrey for the role, but I was told it was Sony, so who knows. I can't wait!!! »

-- With a big Spank You to J.A. for the Goblin news.

Okiedokie....my lovely co webmiss Juliette reports....

1.  Well...so far the only real news has to do with the accident in which
Jim's plane was involved. Here is the story:

    SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2000--Today, Trans-Exec
Air Service pilot Mark Malone and co-pilot Bill Mnich were flying a
Gulfstream III into Van Nuys Airport on an ILS instrument approach.

They were returning from Reno, Nev., and had been cleared for the approach
when a King Air airplane entered and violated their aircraft's space, making
contact while in flight. There were no passengers on board the Gulfstream III
airplane, which is registered to actor Jim Carrey. The Gulfstream III landed
without incident at approximately 4:00 p.m. this afternoon.

"Due to our pilot's quick thinking," stated David Bilson, President of
Trans-Exec Air Service of Santa Monica, "a serious tragedy was averted today.
It was a combination of their experience, exceptional skills and training
that made a difference. We will conduct our own investigation into the
factors that led to this incident, but it is important for the public to know
that Mark Malone and Bill Mnich did an excellent job. They really are
heroes."

2.  If you live near Universal Studios Hollywood or Universal Studios
Orlando, get ready for Whoville! That's right, both theme parks are being
transferred into Whoville for the upcoming film How The Grinch Stole
Christmas. This starts November 17th, the day the film comes out and lasts
until December 31st in Orlando, and New Years Day in Hollywood. There will be
Who pudding, Who singing and tons of snowstorms! Whoville Whobilations will
abound nightly, featuring processions, real snow, a singing and dancing cast
of Whovillians, more snow, a nightly tree-lighting ceremony, Who feasts, the
Grinch's faithful dog Max and of course snow! You can slip and slide down the
icy Mt. Crumpit Snow Plummet or meander through The Grinch's Cave Maze, the
dark, cavernous home of the Grinch, where taunted by the Grinch's disembodied
voice, you interact with pop-up Grinch decoys and contraptions from the
Grinch's workshop. At the Universal Studios theme park in Orlando, guests can
get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole
Christmas" motion picture, with props, sets and costumes from the film on
display.  On the west coast, guests to Universal Studios Hollywood who board
the famed Studio Tour will see the original Whoville set.  At the CityWalk
complexes in both Orlando and Hollywood, once the film has opened nationwide
on Nov. 17, it will be showcased at the Universal City Cinemas and Universal
Cineplex, while nightly readings of the classic holiday tale take place at
the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Universal Orlando's first on-site hotel.
Sounds like fun =0)

3.   So far I have a small list of some of the songs that will be featured on
the Grinch soundtrack:
    1. You Don't Have To Be Alone - N Sync
    2. You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch - Busta Rhymes/Jim Carrey
    3. Green Christmas - Barenaked Ladies
    4. Better Do It Right - Smash Mouth
    5. Christmas Is Going To The Dogs - Eels
    6. Where Are You Christmas - Faith Hill
    7. Perfect Christmas Night - Trans-Siberian Orchestra
    8. Lonely Christmas Eve - Ben Folds
    9. Christmas Of Love - Little Isidore & The Inquisitors

4. Small tidbit for those in the CA area, The Grinch premiere is on November
8th at Universal Studios Hollywood, so if you want to catch a glimpse of Jim
and Renee then go, I request you arrive early! So far I have no premiere
tickets =0(  hehe

and there is even more to report....Jimcarreyonline reports a lottylot too...

"The Grinch" reviews

"The Grinch" gives First Book

Taken from Universal's press release:

Universal Studios has announced a multi-faceted partnership with First Book, a national nonprofit organization that raises awareness of children's literacy issues and distributes new books to underserved children. The partnership will launch with two special events tied to the November 17 release of Universal Pictures' and Imagine Entertainment's film version of the Random House classic book, "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas": a national First Book Day celebration on November 1; and the World Premiere on November 8 in Los Angeles.

The extent of Universal's support of First Book includes a variety of commitments, ranging from a charitable donation to community activities. In order to encourage volunteer participation across the country, Universal Pictures' official Grinch web site, www.meanone.com, will provide updated information about opportunities to support First Book children. Universal's specially designed poster, "This Wholiday Season Send a Child a Book" will be displayed at retailers and booksellers across the country.

Beginning with a press conference at the New York Public Library in New York City on November 1, First Book Day will launch a number of broad-reaching local and national activities that are designed to raise awareness of children's literacy issues and to enable people from all across the country to contribute to this program. Many of Universal's primary partners for the film will also be participating in the First Book Day launch event and subsequent campaign, including Kellogg's, Nabisco, Wendy's, Ziploc and the U.S. Postal Service.

Among the many exciting programs is a special partnership with Universal Studios and Random House Children's Books, the exclusive publisher of the works of Dr. Seuss. Random House will donate a new book to First Book for every copy of the classic Grinch or any Grinch movie tie-in book purchased throughout the holiday season. The company has pledged to donate up to half a million books.

In addition, the world premiere of "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas," to be held on November 8 in Los Angeles, will benefit First Book and BookPALS, a Program of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation. The event will be sponsored by VISA.

A collection of Grinchy links

Premiere has a truck load of trailers of all the major Fall releases and among them is, of course, "The Grinch". It's the same trailer as featured at Loew's Trailerpark, but the image quality is slightly better. Specially the High-Res version is worth a look:

Dark Horizons is also featuring today two reviews of "The Grinch". You can read them at:

ET Online is featuring an interview with Faith Hill done during shooting of the video for "Where Are You Christmas", which as you know, will be included in "The Grinch" soundtrack. The song was written by Mariah Carey, Will Jennings, and James Horner, who also wrote "My Heart Will Go On" from "Titanic":

The folks at MovieHeadlines.net got more news on "The Grinch" action figures, namely a nicely scanned page of Toyfare magazine displaying the various figures that will soon be available to buy:

"The Grinch" & Toys "R" Us

Still on the toys topic, Toys "R" Us will support "The Grinch" in all North American stores with merchandise and national promotions, as of November 1. Here's some excerpts of the official press release:

Whoville will be recreated in every Toys "R" Us store in North America with "Grinch" themed feature shops and customized signage and banners portraying imagery from the film throughout all areas of the store. A wide variety of "Grinch" products from plush, figurines, candy, ornaments and interactive games will be available.

Customers at the Herald Square store in New York City will be greeted at the 34th Street entrance with 8' high, three dimensional film characters including "The Grinch" over the front doors. Floor to ceiling themed window graphics highlighting the key characters from the film will be prominently positioned on all store windows.

Also, beginning in mid-October, the Toys "R" Us website will feature "The Grinch" merchandise at http://www.toysrus.com.

New additions to "The Grinch" website

If you haven't checked The Mean One official website in a while, be sure to do it, because new goodies were added. The "Grinch Browser" is available to download, so is a Grinch screenmate guaranteed to steal your desktop away. (And our congratulations in advance if you manage to get something done with a Grinch running all over your programs' windows).

It's a How The Grinch Stole Christmas Monopoly game!
This is what they say about it:

Annoyed by the out-of-control Christmas festivities in Whoville, the Grinch conspires to deprive the Whos of their favorite holiday, Christmas. okiedokie...JimCarreyOnline has got two bits of Fantastic news again! About Bijou and Queen Elizabethhhhhhh, the Brrrrrrittish Queen :)

"The Bijou" is a go!

S.A._JCFan and Tommy Pihl found on yesterday's edition of The Hollywood Reporter the so awaited confirmation that Jim Carrey will indeed star in "The Bijou":

"Martin Landau and Allen Garfield have joined the cast of filmmaker Frank Darabont's "The Bijou" opposite Jim Carrey for Castle Rock Entertainment, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros.

The project is slated to begin shooting Feb. 15 in Los Angeles and Northern California.

Written by Darabont and Michael Sloane, "Bijou" stars Carrey as a blacklisted writer who loses his memory after a car accident and finds a new home in a small town, where he is mistaken for a soldier who died.

Landau plays the father of the man for whom Carrey is mistaken, and Garfield plays Carrey's literary agent.

Universal is expected to handle domestic distribution, with Warner Bros. taking on international distribution. Castle Rock is producing the film."

-- Excerpt taken from The Hollywood Reporter. With a big Spank You also to Tommy for sending us this "Bijou".

A Royal Grinch

It looks like Green will be this Christmas' Royal color, as Ali let us know:

"IGN Filmforce reported a Royal Premiere for Jim Carrey's latest movie "Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" on November 15th at the Odeon cinema in London's Leiceter Square, which will be attended by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It is mentioned to be a fundraising project for CTBF (Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund) as they helped in assisting 'behind-the-scenes' workers in everything associated to the film from administration to distribution. The Grinch will have to wash his unwashed socks and try not to look as charming as an eel."

Robin, JCO's U.K. correspondent, went to dug more details on the Mean One's Royal agenda and got an official confirmation that Jim Carrey, Ron Howard and all the stars of the movie are going to attend the premiere.

-- With a big Spank You to Ali H. Nasser and Robin Maughan for these Royal news.

Monday, October 02, 2000

Haha sorry about that! Here we go... ahhhhh okiedokie. Let's put some things straight here... haha actually, this is so friggin' hilarious! Amazing what a whole bunch of misunderstanding. First of all I read this *snip* Posted by Carreyland Webmaster! on September 30, 2000 at 18:32:40 Ok, it was one thing when it looked like this project was something to let JC fans express themselves in one tape and send it to Jim. That's a unique idea and great! I must protest, the version of the project that has recently emerged, however. It's nearly stalking and could be dangerous. I know that's not the original intent of the project and maybe there's a language barrier, but there needs to be some more thought put into the idea than what it has been given. *snap* at Renee's message board. totallyout of the blue so it seems to me. But oopsie. I forgot to check the message of our miss Wiploc. Hha! She had some BIGGGG misunderstanding here. She actually thought that we were going to terrorise Jims house with ski masks. First of all...we are NOT going to do anything like that or what would be even CLOSE to something like that. DEFINITLY NOT WITH SKI MASKS! AND DEFENITLY NOT WITH JIM! Geez this is so hilarous. Cause, as a matter of fact..Wiploc here had read parts of THE FILM SCRIPT thinking that it wasn't a script but actually a true actual..PLAN. LADIES AND GENTLEMAN...let me ussure you....THAT WAS A SCRIPT!! FICTIONE!My mistake to forget to add that there (I believe I did though in a here is another idea for the script kinda way)I'll fix that right away...though I thought it was pretty obvious. and second of all...there weeen't even ski masks INVOLVED. Let me give you the SCENE OF THE SCRIPT...SCRIPT!!! MOVIE SCRIPT!!!! ok...part of the script is about the JCCFF..an organisation sucked out of my thumb, the Jim Carrey Closet Fan Foundation. people that are Jim Carrey Fans but don't dare to come out of the closet with it. This are very extreme but also very shy fans. People that don't want to admit they are..well and THEY want to give Jim a birthday suprise...a cake..with candles and all, a song..but they don't dare to do that to him in person. As a matter of fact they order real fans who DO admit they are fans of Jim Carrey to give them special ingredients and make the cake for them and giving a suprise to them or something like that (the script isn't done yet) The JCCFF is a bit a scary overobsessed organisation, maffia like. They all have this tattoo in their neck and are spread all over the world, Like Jim Carrey fans. So a couple of real fans get a letter to be ordered to complete the mission. And..the MOVIE MOVIE!!! ladies and gentleman...MOVIE! ends with all thos JCCFF people TAPINGon VIDEO movie in movie kinda thing..sitting in a room..and you see, as a viewer a bunch of shy people wearing THE MASK MASKS..no ski masks..in a room..NOT JIMS HOUSE...ON VIDEO TAPE...NOT IN REAL LIFE...having a birthday cake and singing happy birthday now you tell me...what's so terrorising stalking police arresting and shooting about that? Hope this explains things.. PFIEUW!!! Claartje.
