Ok...THAT'S ENOUGH! I'm gonna get myself TMF. Look what lovely news jimcarreyonline has to report :).... Especially the apology thing is so cool! muahahahaha *EVIL GRIN*

A Baker encore

Remember the cool Rick Baker & Grinch pic Martina sent us a few days ago? Well, Gregg at Cinefex let us know that their current issue on "The Grinch" also features another version of the picture, this time a Grinch-Baker-Eddie "Nutty Professor" Murphy combo. Yuuummy!

Do you think they're safe?
Carrey, Baker & Murphy.

"Woman's 'Green' Day"

Sharon let us know that "Woman's Day", the Australian magazine sued by Jim Carrey for having published a libelous article on his character, has printed on last week's edition, a small article titled "Apology To Jim Carrey", where they fully apologize for any embarrassment the article may have caused him. The magazine's article suggested actresses had refused to work with him as a result of offensive behavior.

As Fletcher so well put it: "Jordan fades back -- Swooosh! -- and that's the GAME!!!"

-- With a big Spank You to Sharon for the info.

"Me, Myself & Irene" release date

Just a quick note to remind you that "Me, Myself & Irene", VHS version, will be available to rent in the US, January 9th and to buy in DVD format, on January 23rd.

Editor's Note: Yes, the watermelon scene reportedly made it to the DVD extras, which proves once more that you gotta be careful with what you wish for, because it may just come true. ;-)

"Me, Myself & Irene" interview from TMF

While "Me, Myself & Irene"'s release on video and DVD approaches at full tilt, Steven sent us this little appetizer from The Music Factory's caves:

TMF: How was it to be on a Farrelly Brothers set?
Jim: A typical day on a Farrely Brothers set is um... I get out of the car and I just say "Bobby, Pete, don't look at me!" I go to my trailer, I'm there for one hour or two hours, 'till the drugs kick in! I come out and I'm ready to go at work and I say: "Okay, what sick twisted fantasy, that you always wanted to do and you always wanted to be, would you like to vicariously live through me?"

TMF: What was the most important change that Jim Carrey made to the script, to the story?
Farrelly Brothers: I would say all the physical stuff!
You know, for a long time we wondered, he has to play two roles, and we thought: "How we gonna differentiate the one guy from the other? Is the one guy always gonna be smoking? What's gonna tell the audience that he is the one guy or the other?"
Then Jim started to think about the character, and it's a funny thing, you just know by looking at him which guy he is and it's how he holds his eye-brows and his face! To bring that kind of talent in his role, is the biggest thing he did!

-- With a double Spank You to Steven for yet another cool transcript. Interview © The Music Factory.

jimcarreyonline reports...and I follow today :)

New Jim Carrey magazine

Wesley Hofmann, our Web correspondent, let us know that there's on sale now at US bookstores a magazine titled:

"Gold Collectors Series Entertainment Magazine: Jim Carrey, Meet The Star Of The Grinch Up Close And Personal"

Wesley also reports that the magazine is all about Jim Carrey, it's about 28 pages and has wonderful photos. It is supposed to be on display in stores until 1/09/01.

For back orders of the magazine you can write to:

A Grinched rumor

S.A._JCFan and Wesley Hofmann found the following scoop, sent to Dark Horizons by "Harry Angel", regarding a possible sequel to Jim Carrey's mega-hit "The Grinch".

«Hard as it might be to believe (or not), barely a month after its release, a treatment fell into my hot little hands for a project called HOW THE GRINCH SAVED CHRISTMAS, and nope, that's not a typo. This sequel to the mammoth Uni hit concerns the green guy's impending wedding to Martha May and his eventual search for his family. Also, believe it or not, it's damned funny (if not a bit formulaic).

And all I'll say at this point is that if you though The Grinch was a Grinch, wait till you meet his dad! Apparently the writers thought Jim Carrey's Grinch sounded enough like Sir Sean Connery for them to envision him as Papa Grinch. Sounds like wishful casting, and while unlikely, can't you just imagine…?»

Last minute note: On a studio press release, Universal Pictures just announced that "The Grinch" has become the highest-grossing film of 2000, passing "Mission Impossible 2" last night. In only 33 days of release, "The Grinch" has earned $216,418,280 becoming Universal Pictures' fifth biggest hit, following "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial", "Jurassic Park", "Jaws" and "The Lost World: Jurassic Park", and one of the top 25 biggest grossing films of all time.

Bruce Campbell joins "Bijou"

A new addition to the cast of "Bijou" has been announced today by The Hollywood Reporter. According to the newspaper, Bruce Campbell will play the leading character in "Sand Pirates Of The Sahara", the movie written by Jim Carrey's character, Peter Appleton. Though the part will probably resume itself to a short cameo, it'll be nevertheless noteworthy in the film's plot. "Bijou" is a Castle Rock Entertainment production, to be directed by Frank Darabont.

TMF's "Grinch" interview

Steven sent us the following transcript of a short but funny interview Jim Carrey gave to The Music Factory, a channel only available in Belgium and Holland, during "The Grinch" overseas promotion:

TMF: When you started the project, what did you expect to be the most difficult part?
Jim: Well, I think everybody will say this will be the make-up and the fact that there are so many special effects. There were so many things at the same time, that my biggest concern was like "Can I still focus and create this character?" and I just proved to myself that human beings can basically exist in any kind of sick situation. They can get used to it! It's... amazing! In a few weeks I was able to get to a place where I was just the Grinch. It was a part of my skin. Besides freaking out because of fleas (laughs), I was pretty alright.
First, when I saw all the special effects come together in this movie, I was a kid again and I was like "I wanna go there, I wanna live in Whoville!" because, just the skies are just so interesting. I guess that Christmas all year around may be a little tough and make a Grinch out of everyone, but it's a pretty cool place, as far as I'm concerned.

TMF: What would the Grinch think of you as an actor, as Jim Carrey?
Jim: The Grinch would probably identify pretty close to me, he's an outsider and he recognizes one when he sees one. He would say "We're down, we're down! Jim is one of us!".
I love this character because it's what we all are like two months before Christmas. We all sit there like "Oh God, not again!", and then when it comes closer, I don't know about you but, I start hearing people singing carols and stuff and it always gets me. Sometimes you reject it but it gets you anyway.

"Grinch" wonders "What Women Want"

by S.A._JCFan

After 4 consecutive weeks at the top spot of the box office, "The Grinch" finally steps down from his throne. The Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt comedy, "What Women Want", raked in $34.4 million, becoming the new #1 movie. Taking the second spot is teen farce "Dude, Where's My Car?", which grossed $14 million.

Although "The Grinch" dropped 2 spots from last week, it fared much better than Disney's "The Emperor's New Groove". "The Grinch" takes in #13 million, making its total a jaw-dropping $212.9 million. Looks like passing the $250 mil mark is gonna be easy, especially since Christmas in only a week away.

Next week will be a tough competition. The Mean One goes up against Tom Hanks' "Castaway", Nicolas Cage's "Family Man", George Clooney's "O Brother, Where Art Thou?", "Dracula 2000", and Sandra Bullock's "Miss Congeniality".

"How 'The Grinch' Was Made"

Although we have already added the URL below to our collection of articles & interviews dedicated to "The Grinch", which you can check here, the quality of this particular set of articles, by several reporters of Creative Planet's Cinematography World, makes it deserve a special mention.

There you'll find in-depth Q&As with Kevin Mack & Mathew Butler from Digital Domain, the company responsible for creating the innumerous visual effects seen on "The Grinch"; with Don Peterman (ASC), "The Grinch"'s cinematographer; with Michael Corenblith, the Production Designer; with film editors Don Hanley and Mike Hill and also an article on the use of Avids, the digital editing system used to put "The Grinch" together.

There are many pictures illustrating the articles (we specially recommend you to click on the beautiful sunrise shot seen from Mt. Crumpit, because it makes a truly cool wallpaper) and even small behind-the scenes videos. Take a look:

More Green for the Mean

For a fourth consecutive weekend, "The Grinch" remained the undefeated champion of the Holiday season box-office. All the new releases, which included action movie "Vertical Limit", starring Chris O'Donnel, were unable to move His Royal Meanness from Boxofficeland's throne.

"The Grinch" earned $18.5 million from Friday through Sunday, which brought its total to an amazing $195.5 million. With the $200 million mark approaching at rocket speed, "The Grinch" is shaping to become the year's biggest grossing film, ahead of "Mission Impossible 2".

Next week's releases include Disney animation "The Emperor's New Groove", "What Woman Want", starring Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt, and teen comedy "Dude, Where's My Car?".

  1. "Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas" -- $18.5 million
  2. "Vertical Limit" -- $16 million
  3. "Proof of Life" -- $10.4 million
  4. "Unbreakable" -- $7.5 million
  5. "Dungeons and Dragons" -- $7 million

Man the news below just makes me sad. I'll never wish someone a split up. Never ever. And just....a message for the crazy obsessed fans...

I get REALLLLLY pissed of reading messages like that this is a good thing so now THEY have their chance.'That they are like, cheering about this news. GET REAL. This isn't something to laugh about people...I mean, it's about feelings. Very emotional feelings and above all...none of our buisness. So I really hope that people will leave them alone. Cause it's probably pretty hard for them. They seemed so in love. Strange how that happens all of a sudden.I'm not giving up on them yet though.

HORRIBLE NEWS!!!!!! Tuesday December 12 06:47 PM EST Carrey, Zellweger Split Up Looks like the Grinch will be spending Christmas alone. Or at least without his main squeeze. After about a year together, rubber-faced Grinch alter ego Jim Carrey and girlfriend Renée Zellweger have split up, her publicist confirms. Zellweger's publicist, Leslie Sloan, tells E! News Daily that, "as of a couple weeks ago, Jim Carrey and Renée Zellweger are no longer in a relationship." Sloan says they both wanted different things. What exactly those "things" are is unknown. But Carrey, 38, and the 31-year-old Jerry Maguire actress had been an item for about a year, after they met on the set of Me, Myself & Irene. The summer flick starred Carrey as a state trooper whose multiple personalities fall in love with the cute blonde costar. "[Carrey] flipped for her immediately," Irene director Bobby Farrelly told People magazine in July. But he added that Zellweger didn't return the favor until after shooting was finished. Said Carrey: "She's absolutely a gem of a human being. She's very funny--even though she can be bashful at certain times." Zellweger, meanwhile, told People her life with Carrey was "boringly, wonderfully normal." Soon, the lovebirds were everywhere together, including last month's premiere of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Carrey has a thing for blonde costars. The actor was previously married to Dumb and Dumber costar Lauren Holly. The pair divorced in July 1997 after less than a year together. Prior to that, the funnyguy was married to Melissa Womer for six years before their divorce in 1993.

Jimcarreyonline has news to report again...

A tale of two Grinches

We bet you've heard the story about how Ron Howard one day decided to get inside the Grinch's skin about a gazillion times, but have you ever seen it? Well, if you didn't, don't miss another behind-the-scenes featurette at Italian site Caltanet; not only it contains a brief shot of the "twin" Grinches but also several ones showing Jim Carrey in different stages of the make-up process and other way cool details on the huge make-up "machine" Rick Baker set up for the movie.

At the site is also an interesting video interview with Ron Howard. Take a look:

Jimcarreyonline reports...

Help Wanted: Oscar Host

No Oscars hosting next year for Billy Crystal. Speaking to Foxnews.com, Crystal said his latest film project won't allow him to prepare for the 73rd Academy Awards on time. According to the seven-times host, his ideal substitute would be someone associated with the movies and at ease with ad lib humor, suggesting that Jim Carrey would be a good choice for the job.

In a somewhat ungraceful way, Crystal then affirmed that Jim Carrey refused to participate in last year's film parody (the shower scene that Kevin Spacey finally agreed to do) because "Jim has some bad feelings about not being nominated. It's not like he was in a box office flop. I mean, Kevin Costner helped us out after 'The Postman.' It's just in good fun."

Besides Jim Carrey, Crystal also mentioned Jay Leno and David Letterman as possible choices. The responsibility of choosing the event's emcee rests with the show's producer who hasn't yet been selected.

If "The Bijou" principal photography continues to be scheduled for a March 1st start, there seems to be also very little chance that Jim Carrey will be available to host the event, which is set to be telecast live from the Shrine Auditorium, L.A., on March 25th. The nominees will be announced February 13th.

-- With a big Spank You to Miss Rori, Greenbeans & Phil for the latest on Uncle Oscar.

Jul reports....

an article on Jimmy...lol

Threat of a strike is not stopping a March 1 start of Jim Carrey's next, ``Bijou'' for Castle Rock/WB.
Director Frank Darabont assures me the film will shoot in L.A. plus the northern Calif. city of Ferndale. Carrey plays a commie-accused, ``unfriendly'' screenwriter who suffers amnesia after a car crash. (Darabont assures us Carrey's appearance will not be changed at all. ``He'll be the usual, handsome fellow that he is.'') It will be another $20 million fee for Carrey in the pic, whose $68 million budget will approximate Darabont's last, ``The Green Mile'' There will not be as much digital magic -- except for some 1951 L.A. scenes, like Grauman's Chinese, whose marquee will advertise ``The African Queen'' -- and a film scripted by Jim Carrey's screenwriter character. (Michael Sloane is the pic's scripter).
Darabont is high on his banner's ``Salton Sea,'' directed by D.J. Caruso and starring Val Kilmer, which has been receiving ''great'' test screenings.
Eric Gold, Carrey's manager (along with Jim Miller), is celebrating a billion-$ world box office for four films of their clients: ``Me, Myself and Irene,'' ``Scary Movie,'' ``Meet the Parents'' and ``Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.'' The Keenen, Shawn and Marlon Wayans ``Scary Movie II'' starts filming in Feb.
Love- J.T.
