"The Majestic" casting call and sets construction

Here's some more interesting production updates on "The Majestic". As one of our location correspondents told us, "The Majestic" casting call will take place next weekend (3-4 of February), with pictures submitted beforehand. Besides extras, production assistants are also needed.

Also according to an Anonymous source at Ferndale, sets construction has finally began:

«I live in the middle of Ferndale, a block from the Majestic set, right on Main Street, so I can see everything as it's being built. They just started on Monday, so it doesn't look like anything yet.»

-- With a very special Spank You to the "Majestic" contributors.

hahahaha HAHAHAHA!!! this is a big mistake... Carrey, 41. Some mistakes are just hilarious. He's not THAT old! he's 39!

People all around the world go Buy Me, Myself and Irene on DVD, since it's for sale! And it has tons of cool features! *sigh* Why don't I have a DVD player? I want to have one! If only they weren't so darn expensive...

Oh! I was busy with the News here! Sorry about dreaming away a couple of seconds ago.
Anyway..I also forgot to report that Man On The Moon is out for rent at the Videorent for people who live in the Netherlands (like me). Go watch it! I should say.I just did. So do so. It's extremely cool (Of course we Jim Carrey fans already know that for a longgg time) Anyway, if you missed it at the Cinema or if you just want to rewatch them a hundred times, go rent and buy the things above.

Monday, January 22, 2001

Jim didn't win at the Golden Globes. BEUH! not fair! George Clooney won. Actually...Jim wasn't even THERE at the Golden Globes, so actually I don't really mind anymore that I forgot to watch. Since then we don't have any REALLY funny speeches left. Renee Zellweger won though...haha I read that she was at the loo at the time of the announcement and when she started that she apologised for lipstick at her teeth. That's hilarious! Ok..I might had wanted to see that one.I read at e! online...

"We're back. And keep squinting, Hugh Grant, you're introducing the nominees for Best Actress in a Film--Musical/Comedy: Juliette Binoche, Brenda Blethyn, Sandra Bullock, Tracey Ullman and Renée Zellweger. A shocker. The honor goes to Hugh's upcoming Bridget Jones Diary costar, Zellweger, for the little seen comedy Nurse Betty. Speaking of little seen, where the heck is Zellweger? "Where is she? Renéeis under the table," Grant improvises, as the camera takes a cue from him and starts panning to the floor in confusion. "Oh, she's in the bathroom. What do we do?" What else? Flash to Christine Lahti, who did the same thing a couple of years ago. Wait a second, there she is. At least she didn't have toilet paper attached to her heel. The elegant-looking Zellweger gets up on stage, flustered but somewhat composed. "Oh my god! I have lipstick on my teeth!" she says (did she have that written down on her acceptance speech?). She goes on to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press for "a moment I'll never forget...a moment I almost never had." She also goes on to "thank the best date in the whole world," her agent. "

Hmmm...The reporting could have been...nicer.
Poor Jim. Nurse Betty was VERY good though...

THE GRINCH SHOULD HAVE WON TOOOOOOOOOOOO! Maybe at the Oscars...MUAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! I hope though. Then Jim can...KICK SOME BUT! Cause he's great.

A super thank you to jimcarreyonline for always having the newest scoop..like...this..

Clips of "Irene" deleted scenes!

by S.A._JCFan

For those who don't have a DVD player, there's a clip of one of those deleted "Me, Myself & Irene" scenes at Blockbuster.com. Their page features "Irene"'s movie trailer and a pic of a plush cow in a neck brace -- the one Charlie tries to put out of its misery -- which you can also buy. Place your mouse on the cow and it moos! As for that extra footage, let's just say you'll be surprised why that cow ended up there in the first place. =P Click below to view the clip:

Last minute addition: A few other clips are also available at Fox's "Me, Myself & Irene" DVD site, plus another quite unusual Flash game.

Golden Globes webcasts

Just a quick reminder that the 58th Annual Golden Globe Awards are going to air live on NBC from the Beverly Hilton Hotel tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET. For those not lucky enough to watch it on TV, ET Online and E! Online are going to do webcasts of the stars arrivals. For all the info check:

MAN I wished I lived there....look at the interesting INTERESTING scoop jimcarreyonline.com has to report. A name change, sending resumes and headshots....COOL!

Production details on "The Majestic"

by BCDavis & MTMoura

It's been officially confirmed, "The Majestic" is the new title of Jim Carrey's next movie. The project, to be directed by Frank Darabont, will film at Ferndale, starting March 5 for a period of 25 days. The City Council issued a film permit in early December to Castle Rock Pictures, for a daily fee of $250, after some concerns the City and residents had regarding production were solved. Among those were a requirement that the film company would give first consideration to Ferndale and North Coast residents when casting for extras and hiring below-the-line jobs.

The fact that Castle Rock could provide the City with the finished script, and that a children-friendly PG rating is being anticipated, had a positive weight on the decision. The town's people also requested that from the total 63 accommodations available in Ferndale, only half would be occupied by the film crew and the rest would remain free for tourists, the town's main source of income.

A lot of pre-production work is expected to occur. A city hall and town square sets are said to be built at the local U.S. Bank parking lot. A Service Station will give place to a diner set and an area in the back of the station will be converted in a parking lot. Ferndale's cemetery will also undergo some transformation as 62 military graves will be added.

As it was told to us by a Ferndale resident, the main outdoor location will extend through a three block area, while the interiors are going to be constructed and shot at the nearby Ferndale Fairgrounds.

The businesses along Main Street will most likely get window dressings to achieve the required fifties storefront look. To be built in a currently empty lot will be the center piece of the story, the run-down movie theatre owned by Martin Landau's character.

While no active set construction seems to be underway, the presence of preparations is already visible. According to an information received from a nearby resident, a trailer that was going to be used in the shoot was blown off its truck and destroyed by high winds last week.

Editor's Note: The Humboldt Film Commission is looking for extras and production workers, so if you live in Ferndale or a nearby location, and want to be part of Jim Carrey's next movie, send two copies of your résumé and a headshot to:

Humboldt County Film Commission
1034 2nd St.
Eureka, CA 95501

-- With a very special thanks to the Ferndale contributors who sent us the "in situ" details. Also partially based in articles from The Times-Standard and Coming Attractions By Corona.

"The Bijou" set for name change?

KelWil sent us what more or less equates to a nuclear bomb, as cyber scoops go. Read on:

«The film title is being changed to "The Majestic" as the filmmakers were unable to obtain the rights to the name "The Bijou". I received this information from a production assistant who is also Frank Darabont's nephew. Thought you might find it helpful.»

-- With a big Spank You to KelWil for the "B.." er, "Majestic" scoop.

thanks to jimcarreyonline...a big catch up for the news!
Roach wants Carrey for "Hitchhicker's Guide"

According to an interview given by Jay Roach ("Meet The Parents") to Popcorn.co.uk, the director is still very much interested in bringing to the silver screen "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy".

Although arranging studio financing for the costly project is proving to be a difficult task, Roach hasn't given up on the idea, nor has the "Guide"'s author, Douglas Adams. As stated by Jay Roach, Adams is very actively involved, personally doing the movie adaptation and also producing it.

When asked about whom they wanted for the main cast, Roach answered that "We've always thought Jim Carrey would be a good Zaphod and Douglas has always wanted Hugh Laurie for Arthur."

Even if we agree that Jim Carrey would play Zaphod Beeblebrox to perfection, we can't help finding the mental image of a double-headed, three-armed Carrey, somewhat disturbing. ;-)

For the complete quotes by Jay Roach, check Popcorn's website:

"Irene" arrives first in Norway

Hjelm had this to say regarding the "Me, Myself & Irene" Norwegian DVD release:

«"Me, Myself & Irene" was released last Friday in Norway. I got myself a copy at once. The DVD holds lots of deleted scenes, one which was worth the DVD alone. But why on Earth is the release the 23rd of January in the USA? Anyway, I can certainly promise you all that you're going to laugh your heads off, because, Jim Carrey's deleted scenes ARE GREAT! Maybe you heard ME laugh all the way from Norway? Quite possible! :)»

Le... Le... Le... Le Grincheux!

Here's something for all you Jim Carrey French fans out there. Elle magazine scored an interview with Jim during the European "Grinch" promotion and made it also available online at their site:

Not familiar with Monsieur Bonaparte's language? No problem, because you can get a quick translation using the Babel Fish engine. (In case you've ever wondered about it, yes, the engine's name is an "Hitchhicker's Guide To The Galaxy" reference.)

The article's URL was provided to us by Emily Blunt, and if you haven't done that yet, you really should take a look at her hilarious reviews of Jim's movies:

Jim Carrey wins People's Choice Awards

The 27th Annual People's Choice Awards were held last Sunday, January 7 and Jim Carrey was chosen as this year's Favorite Motion Picture Star in a Comedy. Jim Carrey did not attend the ceremony but sent in a reel of hilarious outtakes from "The Grinch".

The People's Choice Awards nominations and winners are selected through nationwide polls conducted by the Gallup Corporation. This year's winners were chosen by a random sampling of 1200 Americans.

Nominations and awards on the acting categories are not given for specific roles, although the period covered by the nominations poll was previous to "The Grinch" release, suggesting the public nominated Jim Carrey for his work in "Me, Myself & Irene".

A "Grinch" Sequel? Nah...

by S.A._JCFan

Rumors of a "Grinch" sequel are now just plain rumors. Cinescape Online reports that director Ron Howard wasn't planning on directing it. "There's not a chance we'd want to do one.", says Howard to Mitchell Fink, NY Daily News gossip columnist. And a good reason too. "We always knew that Universal's marketing would be good. But it's the repeat business that's the pleasant surprise. The movie works because of Jim Carrey's performance, and the time of the year. But another one? No."

testing if I have this back again...

Thursday, January 04, 2001

Y2K's top grossing film "Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas" has pocketed another $60 million in the bank.

And this time, the money is coming from a massive TV deal.

Daily Variety reports that ABC and the Disney Channel have inked a network broadcast deal for the Jim Carrey holiday starrer for $60 million. The two tube channels will share the rights to the movie for a 10-year period.

But before going to ABC and Disney, "The Grinch" will first go to Starz! Pay TV network via the pay-per-view cycle, meaning that the non-pay network broadcast of the film will likely happen in the fall of 2004.

God bless jimcarreyonline and Angelika....MORE news from that front...

"Grinch" TV Deal

by S.A._JCFan

"The Grinch" scored big at the box office. Now it scores big on television. According to Movieheadlines.net and Variety, "Universal has engineered a massive $60 million, 10-year, shared-network deal with ABC and the Disney Channel for 'Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas,' America's No. 1-grossing movie of 2000". In addition, "The Grinch" will also go to Starz! as part of the output deal with Imagine Entertainment.

Universal is delaying "The Grinch"'s video release until Fall 2001, so you'll only be seeing it on ABC and the Disney Channel around Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2004. ABC and the Disney Channel also scored broadcast rights on "Dinosaur", "Gladiator" and "What Lies Beneath".

You have such big yellow eyes, Mr. Grinch!

Anyone who wears contact lenses knows about the really joyful experience that is having some speck of dust or other strange particle niche itself between the lens and the eye. Now imagine that feeling when you're wearing 24 millimeter (0.94 inches) diameter lenses as Jim Carrey did in "Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas". Not a nice thought is it? But nevertheless how uncomfortable the lenses were, they are indeed an impressive work of art and verisimilitude combined with high technology.

The company responsible for manufacturing the lenses was Professional Vision Care Associates, which already counts in its curriculum with a long and prestigious list of other unusual cinematic looks as the ones displayed by Michelle Pfeiffer and Jack Nicholson in "Wolf", and Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Batman & Robin", among others.

The Grinch's famous (or infamous) yellow hand-painted lenses can be seen at PVA's site, listed below. And while you're at it, why not make your order for this year's Halloween? ;-)
