In Loving Memory
of
Philip Eugene Martin
Born September 16, 1954
Called Home August 3, 2005
He ain't heavy ~ He's my brother.
My Brother ~ My Friend
It's still hard to believe my big brother is gone ... his time here on earth was brief ... 50 years ... but his new life in Heaven will last for eternity. Oh, he is the lucky one. I must wait until the Lord calls me. How I'll miss him ... but only for awhile.
Philip was given a "second chance" before he left this earth ... a chance to make things right with His God ... a chance to renew his love for his family ... a chance to enjoy and appreciate his life more than he had in many years.
Philip was a good man, with a tender, caring heart. He was a hard worker. He cared very deeply for his family and he had a strong desire for world peace. He enjoyed reading and his interests varied ~ he always read the morning newspaper, and he especially embraced writings such as the Left Behind books and the Bible. Above all, he enjoyed writing songs. His first love was music...and he loved the guitar. He liked all kinds of singers and groups, but his favorite ... The Beatles...how I now long for Yesterday...
On August 3, 2005, Jesus stretched out His hand to receive one of His children ... and took him home ... he will be missed by many.
Jesus said, "Come unto Me, all ye who are weary, and I will give you rest".
Thank you, Jesus, for giving Philip rest.

I wonder if he's sitting at this very table right now...

Welcome Home
(through
his eyes)
If
you could see me now in this perfect place…
behold
the love on everyone`s face,
You
wouldn`t long for me to return,
instead
you`d be wishing it were your turn.
Please
don`t worry about me, Mother,
for
this new home I have is like no other.
Words
can`t describe the glorious view,
but
I can assure you God`s word is true.
My
new life is beginning to unfold,
and
the streets…they`re really made of gold!
And
guess who greeted me, then showed me around…
it
was Daddy, and he was wearing a crown.
Granddaddy
and grandmother, they met me, too;
they
want you to know how much they love you.
It`s
so peaceful here…no crime, no sadness, no war;
my
foot and my back…they don`t hurt anymore.
April,
I`m so thankful for the time we`ve had,
so
blessed to have been your dad;
You`ve
made me so proud and I love you so much,
I`ll
forever remember your soft, sweet touch.
My
precious Sage and Ivy…what can I say,
but
please follow the Lord ~ He`s the only way;
Always
respect your mom and dad,
and
when you think of me, please don`t be sad.
My
sisters…if I could turn back the clock,
I`d
spend more time among the flock;
For
these last weeks with you were worth
more
to me than anything on earth.
And
friends…my prayer for you is simply this…
that
one day you`ll know the happiness and bliss
I
felt when my Lord greeted me and smiled,
then
said, with open arms, “Welcome Home, my child”.
