Plasma is a gaslike mixture of positively and negatively charged particles. The particles of a plasma have more energy than those of a gas. They have so much energy that plasma gives off energy in the form of light and heat.

Stars are made of plasma. This is why they give off heat and light.

Since stars make up more than 99% of the universe and planets make up less than 1% of the universe, most of the universe is made of plasma.
