The Witches' Rune is a ring dance, deosil. Everyone faces inward and, holding hands left palms up and right palms downward, alternate male and female with the High Priestess leading. She may let go of the man in front of her and weave the Coven after her, in and out like a snake. No one must let go and all must keep moving. During this time the Coven chants:
"Eko, Eko, Azarak,
Darksome night and shining moon,
Earth and Water, Air and Fire,
Cords and censer, scrounge and knife,
Queen of heaven, Queen of hell,
By all the power of land and sea,
I call the Earth to bind my spell.
Count the elements fourfold,
When the Coven is ready and in a plain ring, the High Priestess shouts:
Eko, Eko, Zamilak,
Eko, Eko, Cernunnos,
Eko, Eko, Aradia!
East, then South, then West, then North;
Hearken to the Witches' Rune
Here we come to call ye forth!
Wand and Pentacle and Sword,
Work ye unto our desire,
Hearken ye unto our word!
Powers of the Witch's blade
Waken ye unto life,
Come ye as the charm is made!
Horned Hunter of the night
Lend your power unto the spell,
And work our will by magic rite!
By all the might of moon and sun
As we do will, so mote it be;
Chant the spell, and be it done!
Air to speed it well.
Bright as Fire shall it glow.
Deep as tide of Water flow.
In the fifth the spell shall hold.
(repeat chorus until ready)
Down!
and the Coven drops to the ground and sits in a circle facing inward.
