Autumn's Story

"I thought I could change him" The first six words she said "He said he'd never hurt me" That same old lie he constantly fed "It happened when we first started to fight" He gave her her first black eye that night "It was my fault, I'm the one who got him mad" He was the one who turned her heart sad "He apologized and me a hug and love" Next day he broke her arm after a shove "Two weeks later he dislocated my jaw" He repeatedly makes her feel like he is her all "He never meant to hurt me; it got out of control" Girl please wake up before time takes its toll "I can make him change, on my own, by myself" He throws things at her he finds on the shelf "He'll be able to change if in him, I believe" How hard to change the thoughts of the naive How easy it is to say that she'll be okay But how long it'll be til I hear her say "My name is Autumn, I used to let him abuse me, But now, and never again, will I let someone use me."
