Athletes
Battle Athletes is a wonderful series, that at first can grate your nerves
with the alarming idiocity of the characters, but after a short while
it grows on you. The artistry that is put into the characters is
unmatched in almost anything (not to say that, for example, Evangelion
or Wings of Honeamese isn't better) and the animation is among the most
fluid I have ever seen. When you first watch the first episode you
realize that this is going to be another one of those about a ditsy girl
that gets everything she ever wanted in the end, but the way they get about
getting there is the point isn't it. I a room with a girl afraid
of everything, a girl that is only good at one event, and another that
is a jack-of-all-trades, this series has shaped up to be better than originally
expected. Though one thing remains the same through the series, and
that is that the music leaves something to be desired. It works for
the situations it is used in, but yet it is certainly not good enough to
rush out for the soundtrack. This campy comedy definetly is a must
see title, check it out at a local video store or if you have a store that
sells fansubs in your area, then go there. A definet 81/2.
